Its said every good band should have a story to tell. Well, when people ask about the band I always like to tell them the story about our trip to Atlanta, although our Drummer Mike hates it and probably would kill me if he finds out its posted here. Imagine fourteen grown folk, 2 mini vans, gear strapped down on top and diesel gas injected into a petroleum tank.
Our first road trip so of course there was barely any money, barely any food and to top it off a broke down van on a deserted highway in east ja blip. Now what had happened was Instead of sharing the gassing up details he decided he would run the show and accidentally filled the tanks with diesel gas and if you know anything about automobiles you can imagine what happened next. Let's just say crackers and cheese, $30 motel rooms, and lots of mean mugging. Nonetheless we're still here moving and shaking. Days like those show and prove the love and chemistry we have for this music thing. Three years in feels like ten. Gov't Cheese (we'll talk about the name later) is a high-energy group with elements of rock, funk, soul and hip-hop. Randy the bassist brings funk/punk and soul and has been playing with independent and major labels for over ten years, Mike the drummer also affectionately known as Mike Diesel manages to rap sing and drum at the same time. Kameelah Waheed the female lead, sings, raps, writes and sparks this energy driven band with experience beyond her years.
