About Me
The Lord has blessed her with a wonderful gift. Bass guitarist Tracyne Hines is the 21st century bridge between Jazz - Rock, Hip-Hop Soul, Pop and Alternative. Her creativity stems from a foundation of the true pioneers from the school of "Bassology". Such known influences are Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Victor Bailey, Jaco and many others. Since the age of 15, Tracyne began playing bass guitar. She originally started out with the organ and piano as she was learning how to read and write music. One day someone left his or her bass guitar on the couch at her house. She picked up the bass and just started to strum it. After becoming familiar with the strings and the tones, she went over to the stereo system, popped on a record, and began playing with the music. She convinced her father that the bass was an easier instrument to maneuver and carry around. Her father bought her a Hondo II electric bass guitar. Raised in a family of musical lineage, her great grand father, James Hines was one of Duke Ellington's jazz trumpeters. Her father, studied percussion, vibraphone and other mallet instruments from the late Bill lewis. After graduating from high school, Tracyne wanted to attend Berkley College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. But after being told that there wasn't any money in music, she became discouraged. With the encouraging support of her peers, Tracyne decided to study at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and she continued private lessons with different bass guitarists. Her teachers and local influences include Gerald Veasley, John Hart, Leonard Hubbard, and Jethaniel Nixon Sr. The music industry is big and flooded with the mentality that women who played a masculine instrument had to prove themselves. For years that may have been the case but not for Tracyne. You would see her at the casinos, jam sessions, cover bands, the local sheds, in church, and now as an aspiring artist just waiting to get out! Tracyne can be available for tours and gigs, in between the time she is writing, collaborating and preparing music. I say this because, she is working on two other projects while in motion with the ones she is currently working in. Tracyne has performed nationally and internationally. She also toured with her own fusion group in the early 80's and, later, branched off into casino work. She toured with the oldies but goodies genre which included the Coasters, Dreamlovers, Orlons and Dennis Yost. Tracyne performed with New Philly artist CHAVOUS, up & coming rock artist Ghetto Songbird, and new gospel artist Hersey Coles. She has done studio sessions with The Johnny Thompson Singers gospel group over in Switzerland. Finally, she began working with Jethaniel Nixon on his project. From customizing the CD covers, bios, publicity, bookings, writing and production of the album, and with the help of some talented musicians and family, this project went through the most challenging paths during the journey toward musical success. Tracyne has lots more music to finish and present to her listeners so, please ...Enjoy the CD!! ..
