The BASS SETS THE MOOD IN MUSIC

About Me

Jethaniel Nixon was born in Philadelphia, Pa and raised up in a musically gifted family from whence he had discovered his talent as a musician. Jethaniel, a.k.a. Thanny, had a sense of rhythm at the tender age of 6 years old. He played a variety of instruments such as drums, piano, woodwinds, brass, and any other instrument he could get his hands on. Well, Thanny played everything and at the age of 12, he decided to play the bass guitar. It became his main instrument. Jethaniel Nixon performed with various artists for over 15 years. Thanny elevated his career by taking on stage plays with David E. Talbert. He took part in the arrangements of a few of Mr. Talbert’s compositions on the "Mr. Right Now" DVD and he also toured the stage play "His Woman, His Wife". He worked in studio sessions with Kelly Price, Musiq Soulchild, Grammy Award winner James Poyser, Dre and Vidal, Gamble and Huff (Motown), and many others. Most of his live recording sessions were within his hometown that included choirs and new artists in the Philly/New Jersey area. He did a session on bass for D’Atra Hicks’ Cd,” "Finally My Time”.On the other Thumb...the Lord has blessed this woman with a wonderful gift... Bass guitarist Tracyne Hines who deems to be a 21st century musician who bridges the gaps between Jazz - Rock, Hip-Hop Soul, Pop and Alternative. Her creativity stems from a foundation of the true pioneers from the school of "Bassology". Such known influences are Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Victor Bailey, Jaco and many others. Since the age of 15, Tracyne began playing bass guitar. She originally started out with the organ and piano as she was learning how to read and write music. Raised in a family with a musical lineage, her great grand father, James Hines was one of Duke Ellington's jazz trumpeters. Her father, studied percussion, vibraphone and other mallet instruments with the late Bill Lewis. After graduating from high school, Tracyne wanted to attend Berkley College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. But after being told that there wasn't any money in music, she became discouraged. With the encouraging support of her peers, Tracyne decided to study at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and she continued private lessons with different bass guitarists. Her teachers and local influences included Gerald Veasley, John Hart, Leonard Hubbard, and Jethaniel Nixon Sr. Tracyne has performed nationally and internationally. She toured with her own fusion group in the early 80's and branched off into casino work. She toured with the Coasters, Dreamlovers, Orlons and Dennis Yost, which were of the oldies but goodies genre. Currently, Tracyne is the assistant minister of music at a church on South street. She also ministers at churches for women conferences all over! Performed with New Philly gospel artist Hersey Coles, up & coming rock artist Ghetto Songbird. Tracyne is working on two other projects with other women players and finally with the uncomparable Jethaniel Nixon Sr. You should "check out" our sample CD'cause it's HOT!! Enjoy!
