A Crucifying Feeling

The up and coming Philadelphia rock band A Crucifying Feeling had its beginning far away from the City of Brotherly Love.Paris Kalamaras, the frontman and main songwriter of A Crucifying Feeling was 14 years old and living in Athens, Greece when he discovered music -- as if it were a hidden gift he had to find. In the Spring of 1997, Paris and his friends were into listening to music and they were talking about the 1991 John Travolta movie Shout, about a music program in a reformatory. That night, they watched the movie and talked about it at school the next day. Paris didn't watch the movie but he lied saying that he did. That day, they all decided to learn an instrument. One took guitar, another took bass, others were already studying classic guitar, so Paris decided to learn the drums. His friends failed to continue their lessons. Paris, on the other hand, continued his lessons.Then, he fell into lyric writing. A friend would write funny rhyming poems and Paris started doing the same thing. However, he started to wonder how the lyrics would come out if he were to write something serious. At the time, he was influenced by a lot of Greek culture and poems from ancient and modern writers. Using a keyboard, he began to pen his feelings and venture into his modern style of music - New Age Grunge.Flash forward to 2002, and Paris moved back to the US and his hometown of Philadelphia. He left behind his family, friends, and a girl he loved to start a music career. With high school behind him, he picked up the guitar. In 2004, he decided that his future in music would be under a different moniker and A Crucifying Feeling was born.A Crucifying Feeling showcases Paris' knack for sensitive lyrics and his original blend of Grunge and Melodic Rock. His music is a product of his multitude of influences, which include: Metallica, Nirvana, The Offspring, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Cranberries, and the Greek rock band Diafana Krina (which means "Transparent Lilies")."Once I heard 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' I knew this was it!" he said. "I am such a fan of the genius of Kurt Cobain. He is the major influence of my writing still."A Crucifying Feeling are releasing their debut album called '' New Age Grunge'' in 2008 at Left Hand Audio with Producer and Engineer Greg Carozza.
