Fronted by Steph Hayes, former singer/songwriter of Stargazer Lily, The Good Problems are an urban folk band out of Philadelphia. The songs are lyrically intense and character driven, articulately adorned by four-part harmony and a string duet. At times brazen and brutal, at times pathetic and lonely, Hayes' words are the focal point of the project.Members include Chris Schutz (K-Floor, The Tourists) on bass, Mia Johnson (The Mia Johnson Band, Man in Black) on vocals and percussion, Bobby Wolter (Love Syndicate, The Weeds,Shooting Ropes) on drums, Erin Ryan (Love Syndicate) on cello, Dave Gregorio (Seven Potato Baby) on fiddle, and Steph's brother Matt Hayes (Shooting Ropes) on lead guitar."Dirty Beauty" was released in Septermber 2006 and has been selling all over the country. As well as continuing to play locally in Philadelphia, Steph Hayes has been touring regularly to take the music to the people. She and bassist Chris Schutz (of Chris Schutz and The Tourists) travel as double bill and back each other up. They are currently preparing for TROUBADOR GLAM, their mid-west-southern summer tour. Check out the tour dates to find an appearace near you!

QUOTES

“In an age of ever increasingly unlistenable music, Steph Hayes and the Good Problems present straight-forward, heart-felt, and well-written rock and roll. It's refreshing.” -AJ from Sirens Muse on WPVM-LP Asheville

“Intelligent lyrics, catchy hooks -- real, relevant and sexy.” -Susan from Sirens Muse on WPVM-LP Asheville

“…The Good Problems exude an androgynous take on Ryan Adams’ studied cool that seems even more affected than his, but their seemingly sincere material balances things out nicely.” -Jim Reed, Connect Savannah

“This Philadelphia-based band is talented, versatile, energetic, and thought provoking.” -Lin Orndorf, Outinasheville.com
