HOUSEHOLD NAME RECORDS began in 1996 with the plan to release one compilation to promote bands that had played at our “Dischord Inferno†gig nights in Camden and Brixton (which had started in 1993)…12 years later we have had over 100 releases …
HOUSEHOLD NAME RECORDS is a label dedicated to the variety of sounds and styles that make up punk rock and hardcore. It is impossible to define a Household Name sound and that’s the way it will stay.
Just as you continue to find new sounds which thrill you, we refuse to be a handy musical reference point but aim to release sounds that have excited us both from the UK and elsewhere throughout the continued life of the label. Despite our excitement we try not to force our music on people more than is necessary to get you to hear some great bands… the rest is up to you.
