With a decade plus of musical experience on stage and in the studio, bassist Dallas Huber has been lauded for his versatility, unique soloing voice, and rock-solid pocket. Equally at home in styles ranging from salsa, to funk, to straight-ahead, Dallas plays with a sensitivity and commitment that has made him one of the area’s most in-demand bassists, currently gigging upwards of 200 dates per year and touring extensively across the United States. A founding member of notable Portland band Grooveyard, Dallas has had the pleasure to play with such musical luminaries as New York based Saxophonist Javon Jackson, Grammy award-winning pianist and composer Claire Fisher, as well as many other nationally recognized musicians.
A Portland, Oregon native, Dallas graduated from Portland State University in 2004, receiving a BA with honors in Business Administration, and minor in Jazz Studies. He also attended the renown MHCC jazz program 1998-2000, studying under some of the area’s most respected bass players, and getting the chance to compete at the Lionel Hampton and UNR Jazz Festivals. He has had the great opportunity to open for the legendary saxophone great Maceo Parker, 70’s funk icons the Average White Band, African pop-superstar Angelique Kidjo, as well as playing at the Waterfront Blues Festival & Jazz on the Water festival, sharing the bill with the likes of Chick Corea, Poncho Sanchez, and Kenny Garrett.
