There is no doubt anymore, Intervision has single-handedly created a groove epidemic in their hometown of Portland, OR. Combining elements of soul, rock, jazz and pop, the sextet is earning lofty comparisons to bands like Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder, and Jamiroquai, yet have created their own intensely unique sound.
In April of '07 the band released their sophomore album to sell-out crowds in the River City. Recorded at the famed Kung Fu Bakery with acclaimed engineer/producer Bob Stark, "Shades of Neptune" reflects the mature evolution of a band that is setting itself apart from the pack. Showcasing the super soul-powered vocals of lead singer Paul Creighton, rich harmonies, and several of the city’s best studio musicians, it is already turning industry ears their way.
The Oregonian’s Pop Music Critic, Luciana Lopez says, “Sweet, mellow, jazzy and soulful…the disc is laid-back and danceable, and man, does it ever get in your head (and I mean that in a good way). Don't believe me? Take a listen.”
From their roots as young college music students to one of PDX’s most popular groups, the band has enjoyed numerous distinguished performances, including opening for multi-platinum recording artist Lifehouse, and most recently for New Orleans-based architects of southern funk, the Neville Brothers.
Currently, Intervision can be found on KINK 102's Local Music Sampler, which is available at Burgerville locations in the NW. The boys also recently signed a distribution deal with Japan-based record label Grey Dog's Records. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more IV news.
