Nice marmot.

About Me

Howdy! My name is Josh, and I play the drums here in sunny Portland, Oregon. I'm a founding member of the hobo soul band Sweet City Slang , and I play regularly with a number of other groups and solo artists.

I have studied with Northwest drumming legends Alan Jones, Mel Brown, Carlton Jackson and Reinhardt Melz. I'm also an alum of the Portland Metropolitan Youth Symphony.

If you're looking for a drummer for a gig, session, or project, I'm your guy! I'm comfortable playing (and reading) in many styles (pop, rock, jazz, r&b, hip hop, funk, big band, latin, you name it!), and I have lots of experience both on stage and in the studio.

If you want to contact me, please send me a myspace message, or email me at josh at jbdrum dot com. Thanks!

All the "film people" tell me I’m supposed to like Raging Bull, but I thought it was three hours of annoying Italians arguing annoyingly.

Books: Steinbeck, Vonnegut, Kundera, Hemmingway, Murakami, David Sedaris, Arundhati Roy, Chinua Achebe, Truman Capote, William Shakespeare, Tennesee Williams (the playwright), the poetry of Saul Williams

Heroes: Garrison Keillor, Stevie Wonder, Paul Pena, Jim Henson, Victor Borge, any pro cyclist who has resisted the incredible pressure to dope up (there aren’t many of them), my parents, the inventor of Wikipedia, the entire population of the city of New Orleans, and anyone who has ever given up something important in order to make someone else’s life better.
