About Me

Tetley
Age: Older than I’d like to be, younger than I’ll be tomorrow. Position in band: keyboards/vocals Favourite Bands: The Action/Creation/Johns Children/Ed Ball-Times/Prisoners/Lost 45s/Gas Mach 5/FHT/The Chords/Secret Affair Favourite Club: Brighton Beach of course. Most ridiculous things I’ve ever done: (i) Left my Vespa in Holland. (ii) Took my Vox Supercontinental II to a house to get it repaired and forgot where I took it. (iii)Went out on the piss in Maidstone and woke up in Stowmarket. (iv) Lived with Gav Needham. Previous Bands: The Singles, The Threads, Yellowcayke, The Seal Clubbers, Vals Basement, The Che Men, The Voltz and played couple of gigs standing in with the wonderful and much under-rated Jarvis Humby. Never got that far but had a bloody good time trying! Hobbies: The perpetual fixing of broken scooters. Moving House. Staring-out Squirrels. Spend most of my time in a schitzophrenic carousel between Lincolnshire and Leeds. Most Proud of: Finally finishing writing my novel – Ticket to Ryde (Biff!Bang!Pow! Publications)

Smurf
Started playing in Bands when I was seventeen in Cheltenham , joined The Lucid Dream a pop psyche outfit recorded a couple of things on the Bunnymens label and did some decent suuport slots. Moved to Leeds 14 years ago played in a few bands but had lost the passion , until recently. Have known Tetley and Mr Marsden for a while , like minded souls and when the opportunity arose I couldnt resist. I have a couple of scooters a decent collection of music a lovely wife and son (Geno). Oh yeah I also own Baby Jupiter, a cool bar where I can drink free. http://uk.geocities.com/baby_jupiter_bar/

Jonathan
A deep passionate soul with a love of music, picked up the guitar when I was 12 and haven't put it down since. Played in Bands from 16 for a few years when still at school until I got a job and other folks became students. Found the mod scene which changed my way of life and depend my passion for music. Started DJing in 2000 and have had the joy of playing music at numerous nights, clubs and rallies including Brighton Beach, Fudge Bar and Switch On Set in Leeds mainly with Gav Needham, Club Carnaby St in Manchester, Heavy Soul Funk Night Leeds and regular Mod Scene events by the 25th Hour Collective in and around Leeds to a name a few, however Barcelona has to be the highlight, amazing people no pretence!! Encouraged to be in a band again in 2006 and enjoying the rewards of live music. Influences include Soul, Funk, RnB, Blues, Beat, Psych, Latin, Ska, Indie, Blue Note, Acid Jazz... the list is endless! Most inspirational bands and Performers - New Master Sounds (Eddie Roberts is the master) - 5 Aces - Lost 45s - Sharon Jones & The Daps Kings & Weller of course

John is no longer with the Squad and now plays with the excellent 5'O'Clock Heros - check them out. We all wish him well

Sounds Like:
(Modculture Review Oct 06)
‘Saturday In Soho’, by The Flying Squad (being highly reminiscent of Bowie’s ‘London Boys’, via Ed Ball’s production values), contains some wonderfully subtle Easy Listening brass – melancholically blissful, this all serves to heighten its late-night, aimlessly wandering feel.
(Scootering Review Nov 06 - Voodoo Working Alldayer)
First band toperform after my later than anticipated arrival were the Flying Squad who featured on the Biff Bang Pow compilation Shimmy. Their brand of power pop infused with boogaloo grooves was both well delivered and recieved
