Originally named Silver Rain, The GT's were originally formed in 1995, in York, Northern England, we were just school friends learning back then...the band consisted of Matthew Boggan (vocals), Marc 'Eddy' Pearson (Guitar), David Varley (Guitar), Jonny Melling (Drums) and Nick Thompson (Bass Guitar). When Nick left the band, Stu ‘Pie’ Baker was brought in to play bass. We played a few local gigs together, but as the gigs dried up, things went very quiet for a few years. But fate intervened, we ended up re-formimg as The GT’s in 2005, and started writing and jamming again, new guitarist Kev Gott was drafted in to play bass, and Pie quickly made a comeback as the new keyboard player. As a band, we were now going in the right direction, what with the band writing new, original songs, and delivering our trademark sound Live, the band were doing what we do best..!! We played our first proper gig as The GT’s at Fibbers, Stonebow House in York on the 5th January 2006.
Our band were now coming of age and we continued to play successful gigs at numerous venues throughout York, playing our usual unique blend of traditional British indie rock n roll, with stabbing staccato guitar. But in May 2007, Jonny Melling and Stu ‘Pie’ Baker decided to leave the band, so Richard Bates (Keyboards) and Gaz Shaw (Drums) were quickly brought in to replace them as gigs had been previously organised and the band was committed to them. We however gained a loyal following in the local York gig circuit over a period of a few years, and The GT’s continued to play with this settled line-up for a while, but dissapointing news struck in early January 2008......Richard Bates, our keyboardist decided he wanted to leave the band, but luckly Jonny Melling, our ex-drum machine, has stepped in to play the keyboard for us at some of our up & coming 2008 gigs..! So with the group learning, developing and writing all the time, we are concentrating on progressing, playing our music out of York, and into the surrounding areas of Britain and beyond.

REVIEW’S"...Next on were The GT’s. They are Matt on vocals, Johhny on drums, Kev on bass, Mark and Dave on guitars, and Stu ..boards. We managed to cram them onto the stage and they rewarded us with a brit rock Oasis sounding set. The first song was "Tow The Line", a fairly gentle start followed by the thumping bass line in "Same Old Song". Matt gave us good clear lyrics sometimes delivered with a sneer and a growl which only added to the Oasis feel to this band.
They had a following in the room and had people dancing from the first track. Both the audience and the band enjoyed their set...".Paul CunniffAcomb Music ’06."...I’m looking forward to having them (the GT’s) in, really do like their stuff. Their cd’s sound like they’ve gone into a studio, setup, pressed record and jammed away and come out with some really good stuff, its a real talent to be able to do that..."More Raw’s Matt SeymourBBC Radio York ’07."...The GT’s remind me of a few different acts around at the moment, Kaiser Chiefs mostly, but the emphasis on stacatto throughout the set also takes me back to the heady days of The Jam. The last song even smacked of Status Quo.... ".YorkNights ’07."...Went to this gig (The Junction Thu 19th July 07) after hearing about them through some mates. They blew away the other bands. Am lookin forward to seeing them in Leeds. Def best band in York and could go on to bigger things if they work at it"...!!
