Why about Vespa's ? Well when I was 16-17 (many moons ago) I was "scooter" mad. I drove my Mum, Dad, Brother & mates (I used to go calling on them every evening) mad talking and going on about scooters. Before you think "he was a mod", I wasn't - but, I came in the aftermath of the Mods & rockers (in the UK) and the surplus of scooters it produced (you may be able to work out now I'm about 53). My first scooter, ah, I remember it well was a "Vespa GS180" - and so proud of it I was. I had it all for 8 days before I virtually wrote it off just outside Dartford Tunnel. There I was, driving along in my Nightshades (middle of the day) & ex army Parka and wham, went straight into a "ramp" the workman had produced to stop people driving onto the small island they had just built - and it worked, at 60 mph I "flew right over it" and then bounced, and bounced and bounced ....... then the scooter went one way and I went another (I went to Southend-on-Sea Hospital and the scooter to the garage !!! A complete respray was needed, which it had (mustard colour) and I can remember a friend of my fathers had just started a new business spraying "vinyl roofs" on the tops of cars (dead classy) and so I had the first vespa (as far as I am aware) with vinyl "bubbles" with mustard coloured bodywork ................... and of course, millins of lights, chrome bars, whip aerials and the compulsory fox tail.
