About Me

Marc Teamaker and The Soul Shop
From Connecticut Magazine, August 2006
"Marc Teamaker could be the genetically engineered product of a mad scientist who loves all kinds of pop. This Cos Cob resident looks like a Beatle and sings like Steve Winwood, and his CDs feature wonderfully eclectic tunes, from jazzy ballads to rockers like "Slipping Away."
Peter Gerstenzang, Connecticut Magazine, August 2006
The Soul Shop
Steeped in the raw, live tradition of the late 60s and early 70s, Marc Teamaker and The Soul Shop bring a refreshing, sophisticated energy to modern rock & roll.
Regardless of the bands they've played in or the Graham Parkers, the Chris Whitleys or Black Eyed Peas they've shared the stage with, front man Marc Teamaker, drummer Ray Herrmann and bassist J. Thomas Nixon are in the here and now.
Whether in an antique strewn rehearsal space or a packed concert hall they are electric and alive, bringing Teamaker's unique combination of classic British and California rock peppered with Soul and seasoned with a hint of Bossa Nova.
Initially formed as a supporting band for songwriter/ guitarist /vocalist Marc Teamaker, it was apparent early on that this was a group as each member put his stamp on the sound, with Nixon's solid bass grooves providing the foundation for Herrmann's explosive bar-crossing drumming.
On stage and off, the trio clicks both musically and socially. Herrmann's drumming is present on Teamaker's four solo albums, and Nixon played in similar circles for years before colliding. Every rehearsal/gig incorporates good wine and food in an effort to create an intuitive bond that inspires the many unpredictably live moments that should not be missed.
