Winter -Spring 2009: Whew!!....I'm finally totally off of the road ( at least for the time being). Teaching Pedal Steel, Mandolin & Banjo here at my home in CT., still doing session work and playing an odd gig here & there. In general, I'm really enjoying being a bit lazy for a while. Still working as a staff composer for Omnimusic...have written music for :Disney, HBO, NBC Sports and lots of other fine folks.Leaving BMI after 17 years....heading over to ASCAP for refuge. For any writers/composers considering joining BMI, I would suggest REALLY doing your homework before taking such a step.... I found it to be a most unsatisfactory business relationship!I've been playing a CA ( Composite Acoustic) guitar for the last couple of years now and am totally knocked out by it! It is the FIRST new technology, composite ( read that: Carbon Fiber) guitar that really knocks my socks off....loud, responsive, sublime tone, and NO temperature or humidity issues!! Also.... without question, the most accurate fretting and intonation I've ever experienced.Spring 2008....I am playing guitar & pedal steel for Paul Simon . I spent a couple years playing with PAul ( 1996-98) getting his ill-fated Broadway show together...We're doing a collection of his songs from that show: The Capeman, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music...should be fun. We've been rehearsing & working with the legendary record producer: Phil Ramone. Oscar Hernandez (a Grammy winning artist in his own right) is the musical director for the shows (he was the co-producer of the Capeman Cast Album and the conductor of the Broadway show) so this should be some really kick ass music!!Member of of Arlo Guthrie's band for 5+ years: Pedal Steel, Mandolin, Banjo & Guitar.... We toured all over the entire US numerous times (including Alaska & Hawaii,..what fun) Also a lot of European gigs. 2004 found us zipping around on tour in Australia--------------------------------------------------- My life has been mis-spent as a Studio musician and live musician for many diverse artists including: Paul Simon, Arlo Guthrie, Shawn Colvin, Erasure, Kinky Friedman, Dotty West, Linda Eder, Bill Keith, Peter Rowan, Rory Block Several years spent with the John Herald Band, & Woodstock Mountains Review....good years indeed! Many tours with Jann Browne, Barry & Holly Tashian, Bill Keith & Jim Rooney I've been a featured soloist at: The Grand Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Ryman,( and about a million other places that you probably know.) Staff writer for Omnimusic...my music has been used for Film & Television by Disney, The Maurry Povich Show, HBO,QVC,Country Music TV (CMT) and many others.
