Who is Jaane Doe?Jaane Doe is a phoenix…She is the sum total of many magical encounters along her musical journey…Her creative inspirations are steeped in musical legacy. She is a time tripper, and lone survivor of her musical counterparts Wayne Devillier, a Bourbon Street writer and keyboard player with Mac Rebenack, S.S.Fools, and music director for the Al Hirt Band, and mentor Joe Schermie, a country songwriter, producer, and original bass player for Three Dog Night.A new solo album BURNS LIKE FIRE signals Jaane Doe’s dynamic return to the music world after a hiatus during which she devoted her time and energies to family life in the Berkshire Mountains, raising three children on her own after surviving the death of her husband and musical collaborator Andrew Berliner, owner and founder of the legendary CRYSTAL sound Studios in Hollywood CA and chief engineer for artists including Marvin Gaye, James Taylor, Carole King, Jackson Browne, War, and Stevie Wonder among others. The album contains ten heartfelt, introspective, artist-rendered songs with vocals that exude both realness and vulnerability as she shares intimately, the intensity of her life experience. Jaane sings about heartbreak, loss, longing, the quest for that human connection, and the truths that accompany such lessons in life, evoking emotions that her listeners can identify with as she reveals her inner self.Matt Smith, a New York session musician who has been heard with B.B. King, Sheryl Crow, Greg Allman, Johnny Winter, Buddy Guy, Ed Gerhard , and Levon Helm, sits in the producer’s chair applying stream of consciousness sensitivity that puts him in tune with Jaane Doe’s artistic vision, coloring the CD to complement Jaane Doe’s substantial lyric and melodic content.Jaane and Matt working together on this project is a re-kindling of a musical connection that goes back many years to when they were starting out in upstate N.Y. in the band Sea Stone. The two create a viable marriage artistically as they blur the edges of genre constraints, blending country-tinged Americana, Folk, and Pop, into a visual masterpiece with great songwriting, vivid imagery, and inspired solos. In the span of her career, Jaane has worked with and opened for some legendary names in the music business including Motown Producer Bobby Taylor, (writer/producer of ABC by the Jackson Five) Don Was, members of Three Dog Night, Joe Schermie,,(bass) and Floyed Sneed,. (drums) Soko Richardson, and Joe Kelly, of the Ike and Tina Turner Review, The Chambers Brothers, Bob Weir, Dwight Yoakam, Red Hot Chilie Peppers, Wayne Devillier, CRISIS, Tommy Chong, Sweet Pea Atkinson, Sir Harry Bowens, Eric Andersen, Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irions, The Waters, Andrew Berliner, Roger Fischer and Michael Derosier, (guitarist and drummer for HEART).As a recording artist, she has had success as the Lead Singer/guitarist of "CRISIS" releasing their debut album in June 1988. By August of that year, "CRISIS" had been voted into the top ten best bands in Los Angeles by KROQ radio winning them a place on the 1988 Rhino/Rampage release "Son of Pure Rock" album with their single "Call of the Wild". Crisis made a cameo appearance in the movie "EX-COP" for which they also did the soundtrack.Jaane Doe has appeared at The Troubadour, Caffe Lena, The Mint, The Coach House, The Roxy, The Whiskey, and most recently at THE GUTHRIE CENTER to perform BURNS LIKE FIRE. Located in Western Massachusetts, this special venue is the Old Trinity Church where Arlo Guthrie filmed Alice’s Restaurant in the 60’s, and is now home to what is fast becoming the legendary Troubadour Series with a roster of the most talked about national artists working in the Americana/Folk genre.BURNS LIKE FIRE can be found on the web at cdbaby.com“Wonderful Music…†Joe Vitale
