Sounds Like: Well, instead of listing a lot of bands/artists we decided to use one of the fine reviews we recieved for our album Basic communication.
"Quite impressive when you think about a progressive rock band that is able to keep the music interesting throughout with melodies and songs that stay in focus rather than going into some tangent (uh…) of soundscapes and mood driven atmospheres that run off into directions that only the most hardcore prog-heads can understand.
Yes Xinema’s music has helped redefine the word progressive, by exposing a more tuneful approach to the technical balance that injects Basic Communication with a more sensible melodic structure for an excellent accessibility on the ears, for something that has potential to go beyond the art-rock audience.
This three piece sounds like ‘Signals/Grace Under Pressure-era’ Rush, Ghost Circus, Cryptic Vision, and late 70’s-early 80’s time frame Genesis with a lot of the conceptual musings of Yes and Kansas, where you find ‘songs within a song.’ The musicianship and the songwriting is profoundly executed with precision on the mystical “Train to Nowhere,†the ethereal “Life the Way I Knew It,†as well as extended pieces such as “Speak to the World†and “Ghost of a Memory,†where they put a finite amount of heaviness mixed with the appropriate use of synthesizers to compliment the expressive overtones that Basic Communication provides.
Xinema have made a record that conveys modern progressive rock at it’s finest."
