I started out when was around 5. We had a piano and I liked to play around with it. My parents thought that taking piano lessons would be a good idea. From age 7 to age 13 I had a wonderful teacher, a very skilled musician who also happened be my history teacher. In the mid teens I joined another teacher who unfortunately managed to destroy every piece of interest I had in music.
The result? I hardly didn't play any instrument at all from age 15 to age 29, although me and friend occasionally rented some studio equipment over a weekend and played until we just fell asleep, wonderful time. Instead I joined a choir, singing on and off for about 10 years.
Then, in late -89 I bought my first synth, a brand new shiny Roland D50. Next step was a sequencer and then the present "state of music" started. Later on, I deployed an Atari and a Mac. Presently I use a PC for all recordings. Both hardware and software generate the sounds but I tend to use more and more software.
The pieces I work with are meant for relaxation, Qigong and some of them for meditation.
At the moment I've minimised my studio down to a PC, a 10 channel mixer, a synth keyboard and a lot of VSTi's. I'm very happy with it as I only about 1,5 square meters to accomodate the entire studio! :-)
