The Skeem project was born at the end of the nineties when Serge Barbaro musician and composer told his graphic designer Mark Eaton that he was looking for a lyricist to produce an album. Mark said that he was willing to take up the challenge.
Several pieces were written in an orientated progressive rock style, and from this collaboration will be born in 2001 the eponymous SKEEM Compact disc.
For the recording of this album, Serge (Guitar, keyboards, and vocals) surrounded himself with EmmaM (drums), (bass) Bertrand Hulin Bertaud, Berny Barbaro (Keyboards and sound mixing), Fabrice Rives (Keyboards), Sabrina Bendjema (guitar and backing vocals), and Cathy Lully Croux (backing vocals). Being members of the band Priam, EmmaM and Bertrand were not totally unknown in the progressive world.
Skeem was finally signed and is now distributed by Muséa. Thanks to a worldwide distribution although confidential, Skeem received a good reception by the critics. Skeem will be chosen by Muséa to appear on their compilation " A trip in progressive - volume 7 " issued in 2002 with the title " The last word ".
At the beginning of 2000s Serge will participate in numerous local projects as a composer musician or arranger. Dedicating his time and talent to other creative activities, Mark decided to abandon the project.
And here we are, already in 2009, which will definitively be a Skeem year! New songs are written , including ones featuring lyricist “Alex S Garciaâ€, and recordings are about to start. The second record should be out by the end of this year.
More to come soon…
