London based band SWAGGA was formed by Ray Gudge in 2004, initially as a studio project. A cross genre mix of Ska, Hip Hop & Rap, fusing old and new bringing Ska to a different level.
Lyrical genius Ray writes witty, urban fairytales which document modern life in BriFtain, covering the ASBO generation and the Americanisation of the British culture. Ray leads the line up on vocals with Dave on guitar, Duncan on bass, Trevor on trumpet, Lloyd on tenor sax and Ian on baritone sax. They are currently in the studio putting the finishing touches to their album and are looking forward to releasing their debut single.
They have supported The Specials feat Neville Staples, The Selector and Ska – Coustica feat feat Rhoda Dakar & Nick Walsh and are now headlining legendary venues such as The Dublin Castle, The Hope & Anchor and The Cafe de Paris. SWAGGA is also involved with The Ska Burlesque which runs at the Dirty South in SE13. This has been a great year for SWAGGA and they are looking forward to the next 12 months - releasing their debut single and featuring on the UK & Europe festival circuit.
Excellent blending of HipHop, Ska and Reggae is the Swagga remit. With their great swinging, swaying pop effect they get stuck into Skinhead Moonstomp, and other foundation music with fabulous style…This band could really grab the imagination of the youth.
