About Me

Eleonora D'Ettole, jazz vocalist born in Torino (Italy) develops through the years important musical experiences from live concerts and recordings in studios, working with different musicians and bands, from the duo to larger ensembles and big band, and experiencing styles and music spreading from latin-jazz to contemporary music, 'a cappella', new age, and, in the last years, leading different projects of a mostly jazzistic nature.Eleonora undertakes her musical education in 1988, attending a course of vocal technique and jazz ensemble at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, with teachers such as Norma Winstone, and John Taylor. In the course of the years she perfects her own vocal technique and style, studying with jazz singers Roberta Gambarini and classical singers Nino Tagliareni and Flavia Vallega. Between 1993 and 1995, Eleonora attends the Jazz School of Milano (directed by Franco Cerri and Enrico Intra). In 2003-04, she attends a one-year-course in Popular Music with Afro-American address at the Conservatory of Alessandria with Danila Satragno, and is currently close to graduation at the Conservatory "G. Verdi" of Torino, headed by the famous bassist Furio Di Castri.Through the years Eleonora participates in several jazz workshops: in 1994 at "Umbria Jazz" with Bob Stoloff (Berkley School of Music of Boston), and in 1998 at “Veneto Jazz" with Sheila Jordan (Manhattan School of Music - NY). In 2000, she also attends the intensive vocal workshop "Crest Vocal Jazz Festival" in France, held by American vocalist Michèle Hendricks, taking part in the final concert of the festival with the vocal group. In 2001, she participates in a workshop in Lecco lead by M° Giorgio Gaslini and his Globo Quartet Association specializing in Jazz and Contemporary vocal music. She also attended several workshops - with technical and stilistic specialization - with singers Mark Murphy, Rachel Gould, Nancy King, Paula Bas, Marilyn Turner, Elisabeth Howard, Jay Clayton, and Jo Estil's "Voicecraft" course.In 1998 Eleonora is semi-finalist at the 1st Edition of the Jazz Context "City of Milano” and in 2002 finalist at the International Jazz Context “Massimo Urbani" winning a scholarship and high acknowledgment. In 2002 she is also awarded 4 nominations as emergent artist and 2 as emergent group at the Top Jazz Referendum of the jazz magazine “Musica Jazz” with her debut album “Straight to the Heart”, recorded with Renato Sellani and Marco Ricci. In 2004 she is awarded the 1st prize of the "Woman in jazz Trophy" established by the Calata Sbarbaro Association of Savona.Eleonora is featured through the years at several Jazz Festivals and Exhibitions in Italy such as Gubbio Jazz, Toscana Jazz, Savona Jazz Festival, Manerbio Jazz and many others and has performed in theatres all over the country and in Romania, China, Argentina, Uruguay and Brasil.Amongst the musicians she worked with are Renato Sellani, Franco Cerri, Bruno De Filippi, Sante Palumbo, Paolo Tomelleri, Emilio Soana and moreover Gianni Basso, Andrea Dulbecco, Marco Ricci, Marco Detto, Riccardo Bianchi, Massimo Manzi; Sandro Gibellini, Mauro Negri, Stefano Bagnoli, Marco Micheli, Attilio Zanchi, Massimo Colombo, Giulio Visibelli, Mauro Beggio, Rossano Sportiello, Mike Del Ferro.Since 2000, Eleonora collaborates with the American guitarist John Stowell for concerts all over Italy, and appears as a guest artist in his trio CD "My one and only love". In 2002, she releases her first CD as a leader "Straight to the heart" with Renato Sellani and Marco Ricci, which consolidates the intense collaboration of the three musicians. Beyond the many occasional collaborations and freelancing, she has a stable group with the guitarist Riccardo Bianchi in different small settings (duo/trio/quintet) presenting a repertoire of acoustic jazz, she performs in duo/trio with Renato Sellani and is featured in the quartet/quintet of Franco Cerri. With her own quintet, she performs selections from mainstream, bebop and Brazilian jazz tunes and original music.
