All my Gods are dead...

About Me

I am a horror writer from the north east of England, currently living in West Yorkshire. My work has been published in many venues in the UK and US, and my debut novella ROUGH CUT was published in September 2006 by Pendragon Press The book is available from the usual sources: Amazon, Shocklines.com, and can be ordered through all good bookshops! QUOTES:ROUGH CUT begins as a compelling search for a lost film and then rises to heights of visionary horror. Richly atmospheric, it builds on classic terrors to reveal new ones. Its sense of a haunted landscape is worthy of the greats - Ramsey Campbell ROUGH CUT is an unguided tour through the secret history of the British horror film, in which its stock elements – inverted crucifixes, exposed breasts, fake blood – are revealed as a mask for something far more disturbing. McMahon prowls the backstreets of trash cinema and weird fiction with his own private agenda. His writing is fierce, intelligent and mood-swingy. Like a signet ring, this story will leave its mark on you - Joel Lane ...a really cracking read, very fast-paced and energetic; I relished the description of the decayed lunatic asylum at the start and of the vast cosmic force you describe at the heart of the novel---the horror-mouth composed of millions of bloody mirrors like teeth; a very vivid image that will stick with me a long time. The "lost film" theme is a favourite of mine and I think you deployed it to great effect. Excellent stuff - Mark Samuels-----------------------------------------------------------( Extract from ALL YOUR GODS ARE DEAD by Gary McMahon) "As he watched, the man’s shiny head began to crack, tiny hairline fractures spreading out from the central dome to filigree the exposed surface. The sound was deafening, like fireworks being set off in his ear. Pale stalks pushed between the cracks, forcing out of the skull and into the sallow light. Wriggling free of their prison, reaching out to feel, sense, taste the foetid air. A huge doughy quivering body began to drag itself free of the man’s shattered head, demolishing what little of the domed structure remained and stretching the neck below out of all proportion. Then the man began to turn, slowly coming round to face him. Alone. In the dark."
