Tech-Funk!

About Me

Lot49 January News
2007 has ended on a high for us with the release of Meat Katie & D Ramirez 'Stop The Revolution', the awesome 'Daddio', and debut artist album from 30Hz 'Electric Sheep'. 2008 will be no different and we will be straight back into the action in January with the second installment of the Lot49 Presents compilation series. This time around it will be the turn of Elite Force.
Lot49 Presents Elite Force
Elite Force has become a name not to be messed with, he is the godfather of tech-funk and one of the scenes most highly sought after DJ's. His tech-funk DJ style combines a fluid mixture of Breaks, House, Techno and Electro, his sets are synonymous with driving techy badness, an we are lucky enough to have him behind the ones and twos (and threes, and a mac) to give us a mix so fierce we are breaking the law releasing it, well okay that bit isn't true but you get the point!!

Meat Katie
Label boss Meat Katie is back from his tour of Australia and is now putting in the hours in the studio, recently completing remixes for Passenger, Universal and Backzide. The first of this trio sees Mark putting a techno influenced, down-sampled spin on on The Body Snatcher's 'Freaky Ho!' which is due out soon on Aquasky's Passenger Imprint.
Next sees Mark turn his hand to remixing Grammy nominated indie electro act Shiny Toy Guns. Running with his rolling, techy style mark switches 'Don't Cry' on it's head and takes Shiny Toy Guns on a futuristic techno tip.. Pack your battle weapons this ones ready for the warehouse!! To be released soon on Universal.
And finally out on Backzide Mark has just finished a remix of Mike Muvement's 'Cracks in the Cradle'. The remix is driving, wobbly and the bass runs deep; deeper than Branson's pockets, one to look out for in early 2008!!
As always if you want to see Mark or any of the Lot49 artists smash down a club near you then check the dates at the bottom :)
We want your soul, sorry vocals, we want your vocals!!
Meat Katie has just begun work on his next artist album and is currently looking for a vocalist. For all the singer's out there that have something which you know is a little bit good, then contact Mark via his myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/meatkatie1 .
Dylan Rhymes
With imminent release in the coming months we have a brand new track taken from the forthcoming Dylan Rhymes album!! 'Stars' is a collaboration from Dylan Rhymes and Blende. Featuring Odissi's twisted up vocal the track is a distorted, bleeped up monster and with remixes coming from Boabinga, Koma & Bones and rising Canadian 'dirty house' star Jello, 'Stars' is shaping up to be an awesome release, and will be one of the first cuts from the Marvins album!
'The Double A'
The first release from our brand new series 'The Double A' was released this week!! The 'Double A' is a new series which will have the simple premise of delivering two kicking tracks or remixes which are not necessarily related, "The Double A" continues Lot49s no-nonsense approach to supplying dancefloor bombs.
'A' comes in the form of a Rogue Element remix of Cambridge's Broken Family Band. Hotly tipped by the likes of Vice, Clash, The Guardian, NME and Time Out, the band have been twisted up in fine style by the breakbeat golden boy. The result is the peak time whirlwind that is 'Love Your Man' Love Your Woman'. Road tested around the world by Lot49's dj's to huge effect, the hybrid of slamming electro and an infectious hardcore-esq riff goes off in any environment.
'AA' comes from Sweden's bright new hope, Blende, who has been recently converting artists such as the Klaxsons, Soulwax & MSTRKRFT to his unique style of tech-funk takes Aran San's 'Ozlow Nyzz' and turns in a future anthem.
Free party anyone?!
As some of you will know, the Lot49 crew love Miami, and Miami WMC gives us the chance to throw a free party!! As we had such a great time last year at The Laundry we are heading back again this year on the 26th of March. We have a tasty line up for you with Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes, Lee Coombs, 30Hz and Elite Force, as well as big talent from across the pond in the shape of Florida's Heiress and Boston's DJ Kares, they're good friends of ours and exceptional DJ's, so get involved you know it makes a lot of sense.
And for anyone who will be in San Francisco, the weekend before on March the 22nd we will be hooking up with our Burning Man mates Opel for their 7th anniversary. The night will be at Temple and Meat Katie, Dylan Rhymes and Lee Coombs will all be there contributing to the celebrations.
Vandal
2007 was a big year for Vandal with the massive 'Idiots' claiming a place in the Beatport top 10 for over a month as well as Vandal remixes appearing on Used and Abused, Spin Out and Fat! Already in 2008 things are setting out as they left off for Vandal with a remix of the Futureheads 'This Is Not The World' taken form there new album also entitled 'This Is Not The World' which is expected to be released in may.
Vandal has also been in the studio working with Cass (Cass & Mangan, Deadset, Cass & Slide) co-writting towards new project Rogue Audio. "Rogue Audio is mix of sounds with everything from film score to chemicals style monsters". The album is called 'Haphazard' and is due to be release on Global Underground later in the year.
In more immediate future Vandal and Blende's 'Healthy Boy' has been snapped up by Elite Force for the forthcoming lot49 compilation. The track will also feature on the Sampler.
Breakspoll Is Here!!
Breakspoll is upon us once again, and as the great Krafty Kuts said being interviewed after he won best DJ 3rd year in a row..... "It's the 'Oscars' of the breakbeat world"........ yes, that made us laugh too, but seriously it is important to vote, show a little love to those artists labels and DJ's we love and respect so much. Consider one vote, best label LOT49. (P.S. Click here to vote, no pressure)
Peace
