Influences:

Subject 0 is a live DVJ audiovisual performance project, procuced to mark VJ Anyone's passage to working under his new artist name - Oli Sorenson - to catch his audience’s attention and inform them that he is now formerly known as Anyone.

As well as drawing closure on VJ Anyone's long running series of work on identity issues, Subject 0's underlying themes span from those of vanity, celebrity culture, as well as just a playful fusion of audio and visuals.

The soundtrack from Subject 0 was exclusively selected from tracks on the Multiverse label, and results in a dark and eclectic mix between minimal techno, dubstep and ambient music.

Oli Sorenson is currently touring Subject 0 in many festivals, as well as working on releasing it on DVD, towards the end of 2008.

Sounds Like:

Born in L.A., Oli Sorenson AKA VJ Anyone started performing in 1997, at Tiga's club in Montreal (Sona). Based in London since 1999, he had his first big break when visually supporting Talvin Singh on his Untouched Tour in 2000. Now at the top of his game, Oli's been voted 3rd most popular VJ in the world by DJ Mag in 2006, and 6th this year with his brand new collective Ne1co, which includes Bopa (Anna Boberg), Visualnaut (Paul Mumford), Lazerboy (Paul Francis) and Movement (Ed Shaw).

VJ Anyone's sound reactive animations have been an essential part of nighttime gatherings of all kinds, in the UK and internationally. He has played alongside the likes of Riccardo Villalobos, Darren Emerson, Timo Maas, Meat Katie (producing all the pop promos for his album "Vibrator"), and more recently Sander Kleinenberg, for which he produced bespoke visuals for all the DVD tracks on Sander's current live show.

Countless brands have commissioned VJ Anyone to perform at their events, including Nokia, Ray Ban, Intel, Bacardi and many more. Likewise, he has produced numerous AV performances and film remixes, first off with long time musical partner Motorboy, but now more on a solo front. Hi performances were seen at top media festivals and venues like Optronica, Opus VJ and SFMOMA.

Also an accomplished lecturer and curator, Oli wrote VJ related articles in DJ Mag, essays in dedicated VJ books for Paul Spinrad, D-Fuse and Xarene Eskandar, as well as a six part series on the international audiovisual scene for Roland (roland.com/audiovisual). He curated the VJ Cult cinema screenings at the ICA and gives visual workshops sporadically at 01 in Soho. In 2005 he started The AV Social, now one of the most recognised events in London for showcasing VJs and AV acts.
