About Me

Photos by courtesy of Osamu Yajima
Sweatlodge is a quartet resolutely directed towards a merger between modern jazz and electronic music....One could describe this music as an electro urban inspired and incantatory jazz where the samples are driven live and the percussions, haunted with boisterous rhythms, mix with the sounds of strings in all their fury.
We attempt to explore new forms, other sonorities, multiple directions while never forgetting our musical and spiritual roots.Musics and sonorities that allow the immersion of the spectator in the universe of the Sweatlodge, as we must not forget that the Sweatlodge is a Native American ritual, an initiatic ceremony in a kind of way.
The modern musician continually has to undust the world of sound. Advancing without fear of failure and without recognition eagerness, he is his own light to light up his researches. Lonely witness of his solitary discoveries, he returns from his internal voyage (commonly known under the name of trips), with agile fingers and presents you his new maps of the worlds, the time to discover some others...
An inspiration drawn in the relationship in between the body and the space, today's dances, reincarnation of the most ritual ones of them. The message wants to be universal, mustering the multicoloured pantheon of the urban mystical experiences and the aspirations for more harmony, more selflessness... an opening on the world...
This is also the result of the interaction of our personal influences; one direction : a jazz that has to mix itself, to borrow from the music of the world as in its origins. From Miles Davis to Frank Zappa while going through each ones influences, Jazz, Rock, musics of the world, but also Contemporary Music... the legacy of our fathers, in an attempt to pay tribute to them humbly!
Nagual is bounded by the spirit
Nagual is not the powerful guru or shaman
Nagual is but a reflection of that indescribable
Nagual is the unspeakable
Nagual is beyond the imaginable
Nagual is a nonentity
Nagual is pure potentiality
And The New Naguals are now performing authentic
urban music with an edge

About time.

Enfin une ballade! "Cool It" est en effet un morceau à tempo lent, dont la signature en 9/4 ne fait qu'accentuer la pesanteur. L'harmonie est indiquée sur les 8èmes temps, ce qui pourrait laisser croi...
