I am a University of Kentucky graduate currently living in Florida. I was born and raised in a small town in Ohio which is the hometown of Woody Hayes and Cy Young--Newcomerstown, Ohio.
I grew up riding and showing horses spending much of my young life traveling to horse shows and lessons throughout Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. As a junior I competed in the hunters at rated shows, but I also was an active 4-H member and was State Champion at 16 in the Sr. age group for the Working Hunter Division--(which is comparable to the Junior hunters at open shows). At 17 I started to dabble in the jumpers and got completely hooked!! I now catch ride and start young horses for both hunter, jumper, and eventing disciplines. I currently have a young Thoroughbred gelding who I am gearing towards the pre-green hunter division next year.
I work full-time as an equine veterinary technician and I braid manes and tails for horse show barns on the weekends. I also give grooming and basic veterinary/first-aid care clinics. While I was in Kentucky, I worked for Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital and Hagyard, Davidson, and McGee, and I even worked for a short time in the Legal department--Rules Compliance at USA Equestrian (now USEF).
Love the warm weather here in Florida and being so close to the beach, however, I really miss Lexington, Kentucky--just not the snow and ice! Love anything University of Kentucky--GO CATS!!!!!!!!
I enjoy attending Bike Week and Biketoberfest in Daytona and I am currently working on a collection of Harley-Davidson T-shirts--I am trying to get one from all 50 states. I love to ride with a friend or family member, but I am currently saving up for one of my own.
I live on a beautiful 3000 acre Thoroughbred Farm here in Florida where my husband is a division manager. This place is truly an oasis!!! I really enjoy spending time with my horse, my two Labrador retrievers (Coke and Nilla) and 5--YES FIVE cats (Harley, Luvbug, Bad Cat, Spider, and Opium).
When I am not tending to one of my animals, I enjoy gardening--which is easy to do year round here in Florida. I also design and create beaded jewelry. I€,,ve been doing this for 10 years and I have been selling my items for the past four years. I have had some great success selling my designs both privately and on EBay.
Primarily my interests are focused on horses and the veterinary industry--I love to read and friends and family always comment that I have my nose in a book! My life is totally committed to the care and well-being of animals, especially horses.
