About Me

Hello my name is Scruff. I'm 26 years old. I'm in a band called The Tea & Whiskey. they're number one in my top friends. feel free to check it out, but be warned there's no pictures, biography or songs up yet. you could still try to add us anyway so you can boast later on how you were into us before all the posers and johnny come latelys that had to hear us first. I've lived my entire life in New Jersey and i'm extremely proud of this fact. Everywhere else i've gone has pretty much bored me to tears. I've got the outline of my state and it's flag as tattoos. I like to think i'm a pretty likeable guy, but I suppose everybody thinks that about themselves. My wonderful girlfriend Susanna seems to agree, so any opinions to the contrary are pretty much moot as far as I'm concerned. I always try to make sure to never do anything half assed. I have no sympathy for ungrateful people. I guess anything else i can think of to say about myself really falls under the "interests" section. so if for some reason this rant has somehow captivated you, i guess you can proceed to there.

My Interests

ORIGINAL Music local and otherwise (had to add the all caps original because of a recent influx of friend requests from cover bands. i do not support cover bands), basement shows, Diners, Buffets, Bowling, Television, New Jersey, dogs, hugs, hugging dogs, guitars, hawaiin shirts and other loud fashion, tattoos, matching my sneakers with my shirts, The Pank (that's the peterpank diner for the uneducated), Big Ed's BBQ, The Grease Trucks, soda, slurpees, Death By Improv shows, remembering all sorts of intricate details about things to impress people with my attentiveness

I'd like to meet:

i mainly just add people i genuinely know offline, but sometimes i will make a new friend here so i guess anybody's welcome to try. but to save everyone's time the following is a list of people I DO NOT WANT TO MEET. i do not want to meet people who are anarchists, communists or white supremacists (especially the dumbass confederates that try to pull that "oh our flag is just a symbol southern heritage not racism." your state's votes should not count in the electoral college. and i really hope darwinian law somehow makes it so you lose the ability to reproduce). also i have no interest in adding bands i've never met or heard of trying to add strangers just so it looks like they've got fans. IF I DON'T KNOW AT LEAST ONE MEMBER OF YOUR BAND PERSONALLY. IF I'VE NEVER TALKED TO ANY OF YOU ONCE FACE TO FACE. PLEASE SAVE YOUR TIME AND DO NOT TRY TO ADD ME. I ALSO WILL NOT ADD COVER BANDS (except the fun ghouls) As both an original artist and rabid supporter of my local scene, cover bands are my natural enemy. I don't add record labels either, even if I do know the people running it don't take offense. i can support you just fine by purchasing your releases. Don't bother pointing out that I'm friends with Whoa Oh! Records and how that makes me a hypocrite. They put out The Ergs "DorkRockCorkRod" and Charlie Brown Gets A Valentine's "Dismissed". Your label did not. I tend to be a holder of grudges so while there are literally hundreds of people from highschool i miss a great deal and would love to hear from. there are still a handful of people who i never wish to see again that i hope don't survive long enough to attend the class of 2000 reunion so i won't have to be in the same room as them there. granted i can pretty much count these people on one hand. not gonna give them the satisfaction of naming them i hope that they always remain in obscurity. you're most likely not one of them. i thought these people knew who they were, but every now and again i'll get a friend request from them. it's simple enough to just hit the deny button, but it's really baffling how any of these people think i would ever forgive them let alone call them a friend. i know all of this probably makes me sound like a real jerk, but it's unhealthy to keep these kind of feelings pent up and put on some fake smile and be civil to everybody forever. also if we're friends/acquaintances and i add you and then you keep putting up a bunch of stupid chain bulletins or talking about mafia and it's not because you've been phished i'm most likely going to delete you. most people who know me deal with a much kinder gentler person than the one who typed up the angry tirade in this section of the profile.

Music:

My absolute favorite is, Elvis Costello. I recently just got him tattooed on me. He's the best there ever was, is or will be. The man rhymes "scenery" with "machinery'' and countless other ingenius combinations few could think of. Nobody else could ever be as clever on their best day. As for the rest the list it includes, but is not limited to: Tom Waits, The Slackers, Ben Folds, Ludacris, Calamity Menagerie, The Specials, Screaming Females, Arcade Fire, Toots and The Maytals, Johnny Cash, Clem Snide, Eef Barzelay, The Clash, Toy Dolls, The Ergs, Hunchback, The Streets, Dave Brubeck, Bruce Springsteen, The Refreshments, Cake, Desmond Dekker, Jimmy Cliff, Agnostic Front, Bob Marley, Rancid, Johnny Hotdog and the Condiments, Muddy Waters, Bombtown, They Might Be Giants, Dead Milkmen, Andrew WK, Neko Case, Weezer (pre-maladroit), Tonight We Dance, MC Chris, Worthless, LWL, Thin Lizzy, Modern Machines, Hank Williams Sr., Inspecter 7, Minutemen, Outkast, Charlie Brown Gets a Valentine, Social Distortion, Atom and His Package, Hudson Falcons, Heidnik Stew, The Groucho Marxists, Delay, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Foo Fighters, Ultimate Fakebook, The Polyphonic Spree, Public Enemy, Boris the Sprinkler, Reverend Norb, Madness, One Cool Guy, The Royalties, Regina Spektor, System of a Down (the first two albums. not down with all the political bullshit but damn they can play), Van Morrison, John Coltrane, The Reverend Horton Heat, Buju Banton, Discount, Rocket From the Crypt, Elastica, Stubborn Allstars, Hepcat, The Toasters, Devo, The Nosebleeds, Reel Big Fish, Bad Manners, The Breeders, All, Bloodspill (Rockers From Beyond), Dirt Bike Annie, Hatebreed, Beck, The Selcter, Polaris, The Merkurs, Static Radio, Coheed And Cambria, Madball, Hub City Stompers, The Omatics, Fiona Apple, Talking Heads, Curtis Mayfield, Lemuria, Midtown Dickens, The Future Kings Of Nowhere, Neko Case, The Unidentified, Steel Toe Solution, Full Of Fancy, Lefty Loosie, Fun Machine, Jean Claude Jam Band, Corn Mo, Nine Lives, Slingshot Dakota, Halo Fauna, Dethklok, Scandaliz Vandalistz, Winning Looks, Paul Baribeau, Panda And Child, Team Goldie, Ted Leo And The Pharmacists, Lady Sovereign, The Conniption Fitts, Post No Bills, Disaster Us, Best Friends Forever, Lily Allen, Matty Pop Chart, Potboiler, Christopher's Liver, 80HD, Totally Michael, Fierce Brosnan, Silver Dollar, Tin Armor, Jay-Z, Band Of Felons (RIP Shots), No Target Audience, Harley Poe, The Trojans, Snake Vision, Fanshen, Niblick Henbane, Deer Or The Doe, Steadfast United, Mastodon, Violent Femmes, Full Blown Chaos, Walls Of Jericho, Wu-Tang Clan, Each Other's Mothers, Des Ark, Led Zepplin, Sworn Enemy, Tim Williams, Mothguts, The Apples In Stereo, Prizzy Prizzy Please, Tin Kitchen, Mates Of State, Piebald, Talulah Gosh, Bear Proof Suit, Quiet Hooves, Sudden Death, Emilyn Brodsky, Good Luck, The Boy Who Could Fly, Thomas Francis Takes His Chances, etc. I'm all over the spectrum. You get the idea. This list is ever growing, so stay tuned cuz i see and fall in love with new bands after almost every show i attend.

Movies:

Snatch, The Big Lebowski, anything by Kevin Smith (with the possible exception of chasing amy which depresses the shit out of me but does still have it's hilarious moments), Kill Bill volumes 1 and 2, Seven, American History x, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Angus, Gangs of New York, PCU, Death To Smoochy, Fear of a Black Hat, 200 Cigarettes, Dirty Work, Bad News, Ernest movies, The Mighty Ducks trilogy, Falling Down, Waiting For Guffman, A Mighty Wind, Walk Hard, Thank You For Smoking, Juno, The Harry Potter movies, Step Brothers, Smokey And The Bandit, and pretty much anything starring Steve Buscemi, Adam Sandler, the late great Chris Farley (rip) or Pauly Shore

Television:

The Simpsons, Aquateen Hungerforce, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, 30 Rock, The Daily Show, My Name Is Earl, The Office (american not really familiar with the english one), various things on the history channel, The Whitest Kids U Know, Metalocalypse, The Colbert Report, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Venture Bros, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, and alot of things that are sadly no longer on the air: The Adventures of Pete and Pete, The Tick (animated not live action), Idiot Savants, The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley, Parker Lewis Can't Lose, The State, Megas XLR, Sealab 2021, The Jenny McCarthy Show (the sketch comedy one not the nbc sitcom)

Books:

i'm not anti-literacy by any means, but sadly i find that i lack the attention span for books. i read alot of magazines mostly. my two favorite authors are probably Robot Frank (i miss his site so much) and Reverend Norb. if either of them wrote a book that'd probably get me into reading them.

Heroes:

Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Les Paul, Ed Stoppiello, Russ Meyer The Ergs and Myspace Tom for giving all of our lives meaning.
