Influences: "Wow. This seriously fucking rules. Great, straight-forward hardcore with some touches of melody thrown in for good measure. Think PAINT IT BLACK meets KID DYNAMITE, or as my boy P-Fresh states, "a more melodic ENSIGN." Fucking FAST, fucking SHORT - fucking PERFECT! This is the best hardcore band I've heard in quite a while. Big shock - they're from New Jersey. Every band from New Jersey rules, even the shit ones. It's just a fact. And it's recorded by Stephen Egerton. That's fucking rad. If you don't know who he is, you're probably an asshole, so I won't go any further on that. Man oh man I can't wait for a full length." - MWB, AMP MAGAZINE
"It seems like every damn band I hear from New Jersey is great. In fact, this 7" is one of the best hardcore records I have ever heard in my life! Static Radio NJ have recorded five straight-to-the-point hardcore tunes in the vein of Paint It Black or Kid Dynamite. The 7" is extremely energic and well-played all the way through and the singer has got a great voice for this kind of band. Over all the band has a positive approach to hardcore and none of that better-than-you macho crap is to be heard on this release. The record clocks in around 5 and a half minutes and then all you got to do is to put the needle back on and have another listen.
"One For The Good Guys" is the band's debut and I really hope that a cool label (maybe Chunksaah?) will release an album soon. The artwork is cool and the vinyl is on blue vinyl. Get a copy before they're gone 'cause hardcore doesn't get any better than this." - Mutiny Zine
"Melodic hardcore with tons of precision and passion with tons of speed, subversive lyrics and balls-out thrash mentality. A super tight rhythm section and powerful vocal stylings for a sound that's full and bleeds intensity." -Matt Walker, The Fest V
"From my home state of NJ, this is Static Radio's Chunksahh debut. They play fast melodic HC punk, similar to Kid Dynamite and Paint It Black (and similar associated bands). Their approach is a lot faster, and they were able to cram 5 songs on this 1 sided 7". They're on tour now, check em out." -http://bleedingedges.net/
SHOW: JUNE 23, 2007 Bouncing Souls/Loved Ones/I am the Avalanche
PUNKNEWS.org review by Brian. (whole show review on punknews.org)
"Static Radio NJ began this solid, generally punk rock show, and it's actually the second of three treks with the Souls that are lined up for the band. There's really no beating around the bush with them -- if you like melodic hardcore, you'll probably like Static Radio. Halfway through the set, one crowd member yelled a request for "'Pits + Poisoned Apples'!" to which the singer responded, "'Pits + Poisoned Apples'? Yeah, I don't like them...just kidding!" It was a pretty humorous bit of self-deprecation in the face of five million (but no less positive) reviews in which Static Radio find themselves being compared to Kid Dynamite. Although they also contributed several tracks to a previously released three-way split and played some new material that night, it was impressive that the band managed a 25-minute set considering their One for the Good Guys EP doesn't even eclipse 10 minutes. The songs might have been generally similar, and their style seemingly went over the head of many in the audience, but they were definitely enjoyable..."
