About Me

CHERYL LESCOM has been part of the Canadian Blues Scene for 30 years. Starting off with Ronnie Hawkins and Long John Baldry, Cheryl has recorded, toured and performed with the likes of Jeff Healy, Matt Minglewood, Dutch Mason the Downchild Blues Band and more. After an absence to raise a family, Cheryl recorded two independent CDs before taking some time off to recover from a bout with Cancer. HIGH HEELED BLUES is her first CD for flamingcheese records. The CD features 14 songs including “Queen Bee” written by Juno Award winner (and the CDs producer and guitarist) Jack De Keyzer, “I Cant Stand It” written by Mr. Downchild, Donnie Walsh (who guests on the CD) and “Beg Borrow And Steal” written by Matt Minglewood. “Heartache” features additional vocals by Cheryl’s other group the Detroit Women and piano from Juno nominee Julian Fauth. The first single “High Heeled Blues” is getting a lot of airplay on all formats of radio. .. -- CDBABY LINK for CHERYL LESCOM: High Heeled Blues --

LOCO ZYDECO brought the true sound of Louisiana to this Great White North. Their brand new CD THIS GREAT WHITE NORTH, EH! features 14 original Zydeco songs with a bit of Canadiana in the content. The lead off track “I Wanna Take You To The Zydeco” is getting a lot of radio airplay on several formats of radio. The band has wrote all of the material for this CD that features some great Zydeco music including “Why”, “Zydeco Excursion”, “Ruby Dont Rock” and “Here With You My Sweet Jolie”. LZ (as they are often called) are one of the most entertaining and popular live acts in Canada, and they bring that live feeling to this new CD. Guitar wizard SHAWN KELLERMAN is poised to join the inner circle of musicians who define modern blues. Traditional forms are reinterpreted — a not-so-subtle union of past and present delivered with ferocious authenticity. Shawn spent 5 years in Mississippi and Washington D.C., living, playing and touring with such notable blues artists as Mel Brown, Deborah Coleman, and Blues Hall of Fame inductee Bobby Rush. Shawn was a regular on top draw blues stages playing the Chitlin' Circuit and the Five-Star Touring Scene and has performed hundreds of international gigs in over 20 countries. Over the years Shawn has also earned the status of a highly respected guest artist for numerous live shows and recording sessions. Shawn has recently appeared on stage with W.C. Handy Award Nominee Paul Reddick and Hohner Harmonica World Award Winner Carlos Del Junco. His powerful playing was also featured on Michael Pickett's Juno nominated CD "Conversation with the Blues" and in 2005 Shawn was invited to play at The House of Blues 80th birthday celebration for B.B. King. Shawn’s flamingcheese debut and his 2nd CD LAND OF 1,000 DREAMS is a self produced album of original material that is sure to establish him as one of best guitar players in the country! The CD’s title track reflects his southern influences and the first single “Big Time” is a high energy tune featuring smokin’ guitar and Memphis style horns. "Whipsnap is a funky tune and “Bug And Shawn” takes the blues into today’s sound featuring a hip hop vocalist. CDBABY LINK for SHAWN KELLERMAN: Land Of A 1000 Dreams --

REACH OUT & HELP SOMEBODY is the new CD from the Los Angeles based gospel quartet the MIGHTY REVELATORS. Formed in 1964 the group has toured all over the world and has become a favorite on the House of Blues Gospel Brunch circuit since 1996! They have recorded many singles; along with an LP for Ray Charles label Tangerine Records, but this marks their first major lease in over a decade! The title of the CD was taken from the opening song If I Could Reach Out written by the great George Jackson. It has great cross over potential and will be the first single released from the CD. Reverend Holmes has written some great songs for this CD including “Do A Little Better” a song that will encourage us all, “Somebodys Talking” which can help us deal with gossip and jealousy, “Already Been To The Water” telling us about the glory of baptism and “Worlds On Fire” a song about how faith can help us through the worst of times. Pee Wee wrote three songs on the CD including a great up-tempo number “Getting Us Ready” that will prepare us for the great day and one of the most unique gospel songs ever written “Dangerous Time” which deals with living in a post 9/11 world. The group also rearranged two traditional songs; a wonderful ballad called “Stood On The Banks Of Jordan” that is inspirational and “Lord Lord” a song reminiscent of classic James Brown that gets some help from long time friend and leader of the Mighty Clouds Of Joy, Joe Ligon. .. -- CDBABY LINK for MIGHTY REVELATORS: Reach Out And Help Somebody --

What do you get when combine drums, a dobro and a tuba? The answer is an amazing traditional blues band from Budapest Hungary called SOMEDAY BABY. Their first North American CD BACKBONE MOVE features 17 tracks of mostly traditional blues songs such as Tampa Reds “The Duck Yas Yas”, Muddy Waters “Louisiana Blues”, along with “Long Haired Doney”, and “Skinny Woman” by R.L. Burnside and a cool version of Tracy Chapmans “Give Me One Reason”. This talented trio (an engineer, the winner of Hugarian Idol and a classically trained musician) play a unique style of traditional Americana music. The band will return to Canada this summer! .. -- CDBABY LINK for SOMEDAY BABY: Backbone Move --
