MAZEFFECT - "Horshoes and Hand Grenades" CD (Jan. 2008) - Holy fucking shit. This album is... wow. Very, very good. How about that? Think Uncle Tupelo-style punkish alt-country meets "Candy Apple Gray" Husker Du meets The Smithereens meets The Repacements and you might start to have an inkling as to how amazing this band - hailing from Erg-country in South Amboy, NJ - is. This release actually defines what our vision of this label is all about - weird pop from some other time and place. Stay tuned for details about this one. We're still hashing out artwork details and all that jazz with the band. Suffice to say, we believe this album will be making a lot of top ten lists when it comes out.
THE PEABODYS - Escape From Freedom (sometime in 08) - An all new full-length. By far the best material the band has ever dished out - think early Green Day meets Lemonheads meets Marked Men meets Scared Of Chaka meets Jesus & Mary Chain meets vintage Neil Diamond (Yes, you read that correctly). Fast, catchy, smart, all that good stuff. Look for it, Ponch!
BENJAMIN CARTEL - New full-length!!! Ben Rosenthal (ex-Heartdrops, Devil Dogs & Sampson) is one hell of a songwriter and his Cartel are the perfect compliment to his melancholic but rocking music. If you haven't heard the Cartel's amazing debut album "Saltwater" yet, think Beatles, early Lemonheads, Don't Tell A Soul-era Replacements and the Pernice Brothers more upbeat material all in one, and you'll be close. Smart, rocking songs with beautiful melodies and layered guitars. We'll give more details on the progress of this release as we get them. All we've got to say for now is "Yay!"
