Cynthia valenti, is a music freak, perfectionist, lover of dirty, bassy electro, warm & twitchy tech house, techno, import & acid house. It can never be headfucked enough. But I can also cheese out on a track now & again. Having built a reputation for bringing cutting edge music to the dance floor and never compromising her style, I've avoided being pigeonholed into any one genre, dubbing a style of "sexy robot music." My Spandecks Syndicate partner in crime Derek Fisher and I have been referred to as "the most potent DJ duo in the NW" having shared the stage with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Ellen Allien, T. Raumschmiere, Damian Lazarus, Smash TV, Charlotte the Baroness, Sean Cusick, Tyler Stadius & Sandra Collins. Over the past 5 years the Spandecks experience has evolved significantly from where it began. We graduated from crashing house parties to hosting small club events in 2002 at the Portlands unlikely M bar. Right across the street at Bastas Trattoria, Spandecks hosted one of Portlands longest running Thursday night weeklies for over two years. We've been resident DJs for two years at Saucebox, a Portland institution. Picking up where Seattle's Robo.Trash left off in '03, we helped create an electroclash dance night in Seattle called Shameless. And due to our rediculously infectious enthusiasm about music, Spandecks events have continually gained momentum to present day, hosting regular club nights at Holocene beginning in 04 and Noir in 05, as well as an ongoing weekly internet radio program called Robot Revolutions on Sobroken.com internet radio every Wednesday at 9pm PST (relaunching in '06). 2005 saw the long awaited launch of www.sexyrobotmusic.com, which hosts imho my best DJ mixes to date: gammaKon and makeAsound both available on the music page. These days I occasionally assist in Portllands Sister collective, which serves as a resource for women interested in learning about DJing and production of electronic music as needed. In July 05, with help of longtime friend Kill Jill, Derek & I embarked on Phonique - a Spandecks Syndicate venture at the intimate Noir Lounge the second Friday each month, including guests such as Lowfish, Kris Moon, Jerry Abstract, Bryan Zentz, and the Famous Players. The Summer of 05 played host to numerous outdoor parties with the Bassland collective, and well as some killer club nights featuring international talent at Holocene such as Richie Hawtin, Ada/Superpitcher/Metope, & T.Raumschmiere. 2006 is already blowing up with Nordic Soul & Kristina childs visiting for January's "Seattle Slasher" installment of Phonique on Friday the 13th, and a long awaited one-off @ holocene with Jerry Abstract, Electrosect, and BadSexMurder on February 3rd.
