FABRIZIO SCARAFILE (Tenor sax, soprano sax) Born in Cisternino (South Italy) in 1983; began to study music playing piano, drums and saxophone. EDUCATION -2007 Master of Music @ Royal Conservatory of The Hague (Holland) studying with the american saxophone player John Ruocco. -2006/2007: Studying (Erasmus program) to the jazz departement of the CNSMD (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de PARIS) with François Theberge, Riccardo Del Fra, Glenn Ferris, Dre Pallemaerts. -2005: Graduated in Jazz music at “Nino Rota” Conservatory of music (Monopoli, Italy) studying with Gianni Lenoci. -2003: Graduated in Classic Sahophone at “Nino Rota” Conservatory of music with saxophonist Vittorio Cerasa (studied with S.Bichon). -2003 &2004: annual masterclass in jazz sax (2004 with scholarship) at “Arcademia dello spettacolo” (private academy, Torino) studying with Emanuele Cisi. -2004: annual masterclass in jazz sax at “T.S.Monk jazz school” in Vicenza studying with the canadian saxophone player Robert Bonisolo. Performed with the big band (1st tenor) of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague to the North Sea Jazz Festival 2006 (Rotterdam). -2006: Selected to partecipate at the 1st JM Jazz World pilot project of Jeunesses Musicales International Zagreb, Croatia. Performed with this new international youth jazz orchestra in november, Zagreb ( croatian Radio ) , and Wiena (Porgy & Bess jazz club). JAZZ COMPETITIONS/CONTESTS/SCOLARSHIPS: -2006: 4th prize the 28th edition of Jazz Hoeilaart International Contest (Belgium) with the dutch based group "We ride bikes". - 2006: won the Amersfoort Jazz Talent Award (Holland) with the “Ruben Samama 4et”. -2005: at Siena Jazz won a scolarship to represent Italy at the 16th meeting of IASJ (International Association of Schools of Jazz (June 2006, Louisville, Kentucky –USA-). -2004: semifinalist at “PREMIO NAZIONALE MASSIMO URBANI”; won a scolarship for attending SIENA JAZZ international meeting 2005. President of jury saxophone player Maurizio Giammarco. -2004: semifinalist at “International Massimo Urbani Award”. -2001: 1st prize at national group contest “BARONISSI JAZZ” with “southern jazz 4et”.
