Guilhem Flouzat

Born in Paris on the 02/05/1985, Guilhem Flouzat started playing drums on anything but drums very early. He followed for years unsuccessfull percussion classes in a classical conservatory, until he discovered the drum set and its use in rock and jazz bands. He had some drum lessons, but never really thought about becoming a musician until he did a jazz workshop at the age of 14 in Barcelonette and saw master classes of Dianne Reeves, Bernard Lubat and Ravi Coltrane. He did that same workshop for 4 years and saw other masterclasses by Elvin Jones, Michel Camilo, Ahmad Jamal, Dee dee Bridgewater and Mc Coy Tyner. He was chosen to be part of the big band of the workshop every year, and worked under the direction of Frédéric Favarel, Guillaume Naturel, Pierrick pedron and Alain Vankhenove. He then stopped drums for two years for studying in a preparatory class for the Ecole Normale Supérieure. After he got his Philosophy licence he turned back to music and keeps on swinging since two years. He was awarded best musician at the Tremplin Européen des écoles de jazz in 2006. He followed classes with Laurent Coq, Franck Agulhon, John Betsch, Vincent Jacqz and Karl Jannuska. He just entered the National Conservatory of Paris. He plays and performs in Nicola Sergio's trio, an italian quartet featuring Nicola Andrioli, Fabrizio Scarafile and Matteo Bortone, a jazz funk quartet with Michael Valeanu, Ben Rando and Julien Herné. He also played or jammed with Jean-Charles Richard, Guillaume Naturel, Pierre Perchaud, Guido Zorn, Francesco Bearzatti, Michael Rosen, Adrien Daoud, Tony& Scott Tixier, Elise Blanchard, Julien Pontvianne, Marc Benhamou, Oliver De Gabriele, Simon Tailleu, Adrien Tourraine, Jonathan Orland, Jonathan Jurion, Julien Matrot and others.
