Myspace LayoutsBack in the day, I performed for years as a folk singer in a popular local duo in New Jersey, Reynolds and Miller, then moved onto a decade long career on Madison Ave as an Art Director and magazine and album cover illustrator. I also wrote a few successful TV jingles, most notably the "Milk Is A Natural" and Toyota campaigns. I was married and had a son while living in London for a few years. When John Lennon was shot, I gave up my lucrative but unsatisfying career in advertising and decided to reinvent myself by moving to LA. The last 25 years there have been a wonderful and fortunate time for me, having enjoyed the razzle dazzle of dating a few celebs and being intricately involved in all facets of movie making and television production. And can you believe I almost married The Bionic Woman - Lindsay Wagner, as well was engaged temporarily to the Shah of Iran's Granddaughter, and also had a short run with Sheryl Crow. I was there at the beginning of MTV having produced one of the earliest videos ever broadcast, and went on to produce, direct and edit over 120 videos for MTV, MTV2, VH-1, BET, and CMT. I was very lucky to have worked with some giants of the biz, like Paul Simon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Crowes, Squeeze, The Commodores, Alison Krauss, Duran, Duran, Rod Stewart, The Cars, LL Cool J, and dozens more. I even copped a few MTV Awards along the way. I've produced several CD's for a few British artists, produced and wrote a few indie films, one of which is a cult film in England; another that introduced Angelina Jolie, a few TV movies, some commercials, personally managed a few stars and discovered a few others (The Black Crowes, Wynona Ryder, Howie Mandell, Nicolas Cage, Michael Chiklis, Chynna Phillips, etc.). Recently, I created a TV pilot for a new kid's series on Disney Television, will be directing a feature film in Philly this December, and have several film projects and screenplays at different stages of development at the studios. I still direct music videos when I have time, and recently shot a live concert of Brian Wilson's "Live Pet Sounds Tour," as well as for a very cool new artist, Tyrone Wells. My video for Tyrone -"What Are We Fightin' For?" can be seen below here on my site. But I am most proud to have recently stepped back into the recording studio with my former 70's musical partner, Michael reynolds, to create an album we began 30 years ago that Paul Simon was producing for us, when we split up for a bunch of silly, immature reasons. Anyway, we call ourselves Old Sand Mill, and the CD features lots of friend musician guest stars, like bassist Darryl Jones of The Rolling Stones, multi-Grammy winning guitarist Jerry Douglas, r&b icon and former Wonderlove singer Deniece Williams, Sparks guitarist Earle Mankey, the legendary Brian Wilson, and Paul Simon to boot. The CD will be released this Fall, but samples, along with recent and vintage pics, and fun info on our guests, can be seen and heard on HTTP://www.myspace.com/oldsandmillfriendsMy native city of Paterson taught me well, and fully prepared me for the world of show biz. It gave me the hutzpah and street smarts to deal with the hustle bustle of Hollywood. I think Paterson may even be responsible for the good fortune and success I've experienced. On that fateful day, 9/11, my life was temporarily derailed, because my producing partner, Carolyn Mayer Beug, was aboard Flight 11 with her Mom, on their way back to LA from Boston. It is still hard to think of her on that plane, striking the North Tower. She left behind two beautiful, twin teenage daughters.I now live in Palm Springs, as well as in Burbank. In the desert, I am about 90 minutes outside of LA, though I am in LA every week on production-related matters. And in a musical coincidence, I live near Brian Setzer, Eric Burdon, Barry Manilow, and Keely Smith. I am in the mountains with a paradisical 360o view, and have the Santa Rosa National Mountains touching my property, so it is totally private. Great long hikes and lotsa awesome biking. Finally, I live sometimes with a beautiful redhead from Dallas, who is also my music video producer and editor (she is one of the best female production people in the biz). My son Justin, from my 1st of two marriages, is doing fantastic in Boca Raton, Florida where he now lives and works in finance. I have some cool pets, including a rare desert tortoise, and am in excellent health and in great shape.Currently, I am promoting Old Sand Mill's album release, completing a new screenplay for a film I will be directing in Philadelphia in 2009, prepping to direct the Canadian feature film, "Bamboozeld," in June 2008, and spending time hiking in my longtime fave locale - Joshua Tree National Monument.

My Interests

Too many to list, but all creative and travel oriented, and very interested in Queen Rania of Jordan. Wow!!

I'd like to meet:

Queen Rania of Jordan, Beck, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Al Pacino, Tony Bennett, Paul McCartney, Laurie Anderson, Sean Penn, Michelle Pfieffer, Bill Clinton, Hillary Swank, and Naomi Watts. Robert DeNiro would be on this list too, except I met him when I attended the Oscars in 1993!

Music:

Old Sand Mill,Reynolds and Miller, Beck, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Sheryl Crow, The Temptations, Tyrone Wells, Donovan, The Rolling Stones, Alison Krauss, Led Zepplin, Frank Sinatra, John Lennon, The Allman Brothers, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, Peter, Paul & Mary, Simon & Garfunkle, Cat Stevens, U2

Movies:

Also too many to list, including the 15 feature films I worked on myself. Though for fun, I will list my first movie (I was a Producer), the British cult hit currently available on DVD from Sony Entertainment -- "Mortuary Academy" with Paul Bartel, Cesar Romero, Christopher Atkins, Anthony James, Tracy Walters, Perry Lang, novelist Bruce Wagner, and Perry Lang. I also developed and set up the film, "Square Dance" starring Rob Lowe, Jason Robards (his last film), Wynnona Ryder (her first), and Jane Alexander.

Television:

Not a television fan, especially hate all network faux reality shows: "American Idol," "Apprentice"-type crap -- and the conservative stiffs at Fox Television. More prefer unbiased news, A&E, Discovery, TCM, TV Land, late night talk shows, and lots of movies -- old and new.

Books:

Anything by Norman Mailer, John Hersey, Zane Grey, Ayn Rand, Edgar Cayce, Alan Ginsberg, Leonard Cohen, Marshall McLuhan, Earle Gardner, or Sam Shephard

Heroes:

My late mom Kitty, my art teacher Brother Louis Durante, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Salvatore Dali, Bono, Martin Scorcese, Francis Ford Coppolla, Norman Rockwell, Frank Capra, Kirk Douglas, Clint Eastwood (whom I've met many times and worked with briefly), Steven Speilberg, George Harrison, Ghandi, Vietnam Vets, Bobby Markson, and all the firefighters and cops who risked their lives on 911. And every combat veteran who ever fought for this country -- whether the war was justified or not.
