Add to My Profile | More VideosScottish singer/songwriter Michael Reynolds, and New Jersey singer, musician, artist, and filmmaker Chip Miller, are the classic folk singing duo you probably never heard.Channeling Donovan and Simon & Garfunkel, Reynolds and Miller were a cult favorite on the East Coast. Their music and live concerts made them an act to watch. Music Critics in New York at the time, dubbed them, "New Jersey’s answer to Crosby, Stills & Nash.In less than 3 years, they created a huge base of loyal fans throughout the Metropolitan area, playing at all the key venues in Manhattan, opening for such acts as Jackson Browne, Nina Simone, Seals & Crofts, Brewer and Shipley, and Cat Stevens. Unfortunately, they signed a management & recording contract that eventually derailed their creative partnership and broke up their friendship for over two decades. After writing numerous well-known commercial jingles, Chip moved to Hollywood to find a successful career as a director, producer, and screenwriter. He’s produced several films, and has developed original screenplays with Penny Marshall, Clint Eastwood, Liam Neeson, Nicolas Cage, and Michelle Phillip of The Mamas & The Papas. As a film director and a producer, he has helmed over 60 MTV and VH-1 music videos for such artists as Linkin Park, Brian Wilson, The Gap Band, Tyrone Wells, Jerry Douglas, The Black Crowes, LL Cool J, the recently departed Gerald Levert, Faith Evans, Sir Jinx, Jeffrey Osborne, OMD, Peter Murphy, The Commodores, and Squeeze. Michael however, continued playing on the Greenwich Village club circuit, and became a regular at Paul Colby’s Bitter End Café.While watching CNN one day, he saw Chip on The Larry King Show alongside Michelle Phillips, discussing their film project about the life of The Mamas and The Papas. Immediately, Michael reached out and contacted his former partner. It wasn’t very long before they quickly patched up their creative and personal differences. In 2006, they reunited in Hollywood, California.Upon hearing each other’s new material, they were impressed by their still pristine and perfect harmonies. So Chip proposed that they write a theme song for a new weekly series he was directing at the time for Disney Television. Their original song was a rousing success and appears during the end credits of each show. So, after a long absence – almost thirty years -- Reynolds and Miller were reborn again. They now call themselves Old Sand Mill, and have recently just completed their first full length album called "Cathedral City," featuring top musician guests like multi-Grammy winning Jerry Douglas; Grammy winner and r&b legend, Deniece Williams; The Rolling Stones’ Darryl Jones; the late Howie Wyeth, Gabe Witcher, Rick Boston, David Maynard, and Earle Mankey. Old Sand Mill is listed separetly on My Space. In essence, "Flat Ten" is the original lost vinyl album of Reynolds and Miller. Recorded in England in 1969-70, the duo was set to release the work when they broke up and walked away from the project. Now, remixed, enhanced, and transferred to CD, this important and unique album is finally available so everyone can hear this wonderful collection of unplugged gems. Two of the original songs have been readapted and electrified by Old Sand Mill on their CD, but here lies the organic acoustic versions.Behold the sounds of Reynolds and Miller! A rich and rewarding exerience from back in the day, that rings as true today!
