The same old story: a small town cheap culture but so many dump basements outskirts; a close big city and its bad influence: Italian posse, Mediterranean sound, popular tradition; love for Beatles and Rolling Stones and soon after American underground discovery; spasmodic pursuit of 80’s vinyl reissues; the paisley underground, (new) psychedelic sounds, garage rock and fuckin’ first love: punk! Here we are!!! In the early 90’s Bruno (drums), Giulio (bass) and Renato (guitar) played in a band called Ivoltri. “A little bit prog†as some said, “A little bit heavy†as someone else said, but definitely rock & roll. That same rock & roll kicked out the birth of Funny Dunny. The female voice isn’t rough enough: here it comes Marco, eventually substituted by Salvatore. The rooted-up and absent-minded guitarist has been substituted by Marcello. Bruno recently quits the band, so here it comes the young and savage Felipe.
Sonics, Standells, 13th Floor Elevators, Pretty Things, Matadors, Zipps, Seeds, Birds, Action...fallen in love with covers!!!!
Fuzz rumbles, punk beats, surf reverberations, blues wailing, lyrics suggested by Davies’ humor are the staples for Funny Dunny's tunes.
