Influences: My earliest musical influences were the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Bob Dylan. Then the Paul Butterfield Blues Band led me to the deep into the blues, and I began listening to Lightin' Hopkins, BB King, Little Walter, James Cotton, Bo Diddley and many, many others.
In the late 1960's and early 70's I was John Lee Hooker's harmonica player whenever he played in Seattle. I sat in with Albert Collins and others on several occasions when they came to town.
Later on, I broadened my influences to include many of the great folk artists such as Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly and Jimmy Rodgers, and country western artists like Hank Williams Sr., Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Marty Robbins, Lefty Frizzell, Tex Ritter, and Townes Van Zandt.
I'm also fond of James Taylor's music, as well as Fred Neil and Gordon Lightfoot.
Last but certainly not least, I admire many of the Seattle area singer-songwriters and musicians who I also consider to be my friends. They include Rachel Harrington, Hans York, Kym Tuvim, Drew Dundon, Anna Coogan, Steve Key, Eva Tree, Jean Mann, JD Hobson, MJ Bishop, Carrie Clark, Kellee Bradley, Larry Murante, Alice Stuart, Wes Weddell, Nancy K Dillon, Ron Dalton, Camille Bloom, Ronnie Pierce, Deb Seymour, Andrea Wittgens, Daddy Treetops, Vanya Van Essen, Eric Apoe and Steve Wacker.
Sounds Like: I've been told I sound like Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Woody Guthrie, Nick Drake, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Jimmy Rodgers, Steve Miller, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Townes Van Zandt and even Leadbelly... I guess it depends on which song I'm singing at the time.
