Eric Apoe and They

About Me

Eric Apoe and THEY (The Furnace, at that time) had their 1st performance opening for Red Dress, at the Backstage in Ballard, New Years Eve, 1993. The band's musical style is a blend of American and European Roots music. The combination of electric and acoustic instruments along with the scope of songwriting gives the band a unique presentation on the contemporary music scene.Seattle songwriter Eric Apoe started in the music business as a drummer for Cajun fiddler Doug Kershaw, with whom he toured the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Later signed as a staff writer for Warner-Chappell, his music was championed by Tom Dowd and John Hammond Sr.In Seattle, Apoe has released three albums with his band, They. The latest, “Radioation,” is culled from live radio appearances on KEXP and NPR’s KUOW. His previous release, “Dream Asylum,” includes four songs co-produced by Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron. A new song, “The Bag” was recently released on a compilation to benefit Northwest Harvest.Currently the subject of a documentary-in-progress by film makers Stanford Wilson and James Buchanan, Apoe is readying material for his fifth release. I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 A staple of Seattle’s underground, his music encompasses rock, jazz, folk, classical, and world traditions. With poetic force and humorous paradox, Apoe is a Leonard Cohen for the Age of Unreality. They 1982

Sounds Like: "E. A. Poe. E. Apoe. Merely a typo, or is there deeper meaning and connection here; a legitimate great-grandson of the originator of the detective story? Start your own investigation with “Book of Puzzles”. Pass along these empty streets illuminated in pale light. Enter the doors of a bar at the end of the Weimar Republic. Within the din, listen: Songs of defiant resignation by, and for, strangers in their own hometown. Those who know how to challenge the darkness, welcome it."Danny O’KeefeSongwriter/Recording Artist...Great writing, Great production……Crystal Plamondon, Singer/songwriterAlberta Canada...A Fascinating, complicated voice! The songs leave a long impression.Robin Holcomb, Singer/Composer, Nonsuch Records
