The Eclipse QuartetEclipse Quartet is a Los Angeles based string quartet dedicated to the music of our time. The group is made up of four women, all passionate chamber musicians, who have strong backgrounds in new music, recording and national and international performance. The members of Eclipse come together to explore the music of late twentieth century and present day composers in addition to creating works of their own. Eclipse repertoire includes composers such as Terri Riley, John Zorn, Fred Frith, Mark Feldman and Julia Wolfe as well as premiers of works by Karla Kilstedt, Zeena Parkins, David Jaffe and Justin Haynes. The quartet collaborates often with composers, filmmakers, visual artists and dancers. They have recorded the first two string quartets of Zeena Parkins on her new cd entitled, Necklace, for the Tzadik label. Eclipse has also created and recorded an original score for the dance film Opium made by the Suddenly Dance Company for the Canadian BRAVO! network.Â
