About Me

Pauline Jean is a native New Yorker of Haitian descent and a newcomer on the jazz scene. She is a captivating performer, a versatile vocalist and a promising songwriter. She is gifted with a warm velvety alto voice that truly captures her audience. Pauline recently graduated cum laude from Berklee College of Music and is a recipient of various awards and scholarships. Since attending Berklee, Pauline has been actively involved in the music community. In addition to performing in clubs and doing private gigs, Pauline has performed on Berklee's Performance Center stage several times, and has shared the stage with Terri Lyne Carrington, New Orleans artists Charles Neville and Donald Harrison and many others. She has been selected many times to participate in the Berklee Jazz Vocal Series, a concert designed to showcase the finest Jazz singers the school has to offer. Additionally, Pauline has performed in the Berklee’s Annual Women’s Musician Network Concert and the launching of the Africana Studies concert series Celebrating Black Women in Music, where she was privileged to pay tribute to Nina Simone. She participated in the "Let's Care" Darfur Benefit concert, raising awareness for the country of Sudan. In June 2007, Pauline was featured along with the Berklee All-Star Ensemble at the JVC Jazz Festival at Saint Peter’s Church in New York City. Also, Pauline and her band "The Magnificent Quintet" recently performed at the prestigious Scullers Jazz Club in Boston.
Highly influenced by Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, and all the other great legendary singers, Pauline has developed her own honest and unique vocal texture, which paints fabulous masterpieces in the heart of each listener. Her comfortable stage presence and her ability to connect with the audience makes her a true deliverer of songs.
