About Me


Citizen of this world, Victor Gutierrez was born in Madrid, Spain.Always curious about music, when he was 9 years old he started taking classes at the Professional Conservatory of Music of Valladolid, where he received a Bachelor's degree in classical piano. But it wasn't until the age of 24 when Victor decided to dedicate his life to music and began taking jazz theory and improvisation lessons.After receiving the International Scholarship from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, he moved to Boston to complete his musical education and graduated Magna Cum Laude after 2 years. Once there, some of the most important influences have been Ed Tomassi, Alain Mallet, Frank Carlberg, Dave Santoro, Mark Whitfield, Joanne Brackeen...also, many from master classes, Michel Camilo, Victor Wooten, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dave Holland, Russell Ferrante...etc. In March 2006, he was awarded the 'Alex Ulanowsky Award' in jazz composition.Victor Gutierrez has worked in projects and performances with musicians like Dave Fuzcinsky, Jeff Fajardo, Mark Whitfield, Oscar Stagnaro, Mark Walker (Oregon), Pauline Jean, in Boston and NY, and played as a studio pianist in several recording sessions.Recently, Victor has played as a keyboardist in the last album of Terri Lyne Carrington (Herbie Hancock Quartet), next release on Sept. 2007He also has a vivid passion for the arts, photography, and architecture.
