About Me
Yuzuka Takemoto, composer and singer-songwriter, was born in Osaka, Japan on December 17th, 1983. She was raised in a very artistically talented family, including a mother who is a designer and painter. Exposed to the arts at a young age, Yuzuka won an award for her paintings at the mere age of three from the city of Osaka. Although Yuzuka has always loved to draw pictures, she found her life's passion in music at the age of eleven years old. She heard the song "Up Where We Belong" play on the TV commercial, and instantly fell in love with it. Ever since, she has devoted her life to the dream of one day connecting with the entire world through her own music.
Yuzuka's musical education began with classical piano lessons at the age of eleven. Two years later, she began training in classical voice lessons as well, due to a recommendation from her piano teacher, who also happened to be a professional opera singer. Voice immediately became Yuzuka's instrument of choice. Throughout high school, she performed in multiple classical concerts and competitions, and briefly entertained the idea of pursuing a career as an opera singer, but her love of songwriting overruled it.
At the age of eighteen, Yuzuka moved to Boston, MA after receiving a scholarship from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where she has been a full-time student for the past three years. Her education at the school has vastly improved her musical talents in a wide range of genres, including jazz, Latin, classical, R&B, pop, and rock. Amidst a plethora of musical endeavors and courses, including projects in composing, songwriting, arranging, mixing, studio recording, and track-making, Yuzuka has learned that, above all else, one must be honest with oneself and stay connected emotionally and spiritually within one's art. As her spiritual attitude towards her music has progressed, her originality and ability in lyric writing have also improved, which becomes apparent in listening to her music.
Yuzuka is expected to graduate in May of 2007 as a candidate for Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production.
