You can also communicate with us by e-mail : [email protected], one of the most beautiful and exciting art forms in history, was born as a mixture of styles and cultures, which allows it to keep evolving constantly by mixing with new styles. The jazz purists will never understand or accept this fundamental element of jazz, because they want to keep it "pure". Total bullshit, of course! How can you keep something pure that has never been pure already from the beginning? Jazz purists are stupid, because, by acting so possessively, they don't seem to realise that they add small doses of deadly poison to the art form they pretend to love. It's because of them that jazz has started to smell funny (FZ : "Jazz is not dead, it just smells funny" he was right!)Actual musical artists, such as dj's, hip hop artists and others, keep jazz alive by mixing it into their styles, which is cool! They bring jazz back where it was born : on the dance floor! So, folks, let's kick ass and listen to Jazz My Azz!And if you really want to know everything about jazz in Belgium, just visit www.jazzinbelgium.com..and if you've got a couple of spare minutes, please support our friends at this french radio station by reading the following text and signing the petition :A Petition in Support of the Radio Program "À l’improviste".The directors of France Musique recently decided to cancel the program "À l’improviste", produced by Anne Montaron. They have now decided to keep it on the air, at least until the month of June.We feel that the cancellation of the program would be a serious blow against cultural diversity, which Radio France, as a public service radio, should present to its public, opening cultural horizons, not obfuscating them. This program stands alone, dedicated exclusively to improvisation as a creative process in all forms of music : jazz, classical, contemporary, baroque, musical theater, music and literature, etc. etc.At a time when improvisation is included in the curriculum of music conservatories it seems paradoxical to want to eradicate it from the airwaves. The threats weighing upon Anne Montaron’s program are more than a simple matter of rescheduling. We - artists, listeners, citizens etc. - feel that it is unacceptable that a public service radio should adopt a logic that would standardize culture. To believe that the cancellation of "À l’improviste" is of minor importance and effects only a handful of specialists is nonsense, not only from an artistic point of view but also from the standpoint of radiobroadcasting itself.France Musique is and should remain the station for all music, including improvisation. We are opposed to any suppression or cutting back of "À l’improviste"http://www.citizenjazz.com/article3459211.htm lThanks
