Nina DiGregorio began her musical studies at age 6 playing piano, and by age 13 had also began studying the violin and guitar. Since then, the violin has emerged as her primary instrument. Throughout her younger years, she went on to sit concertmaster for a number of New York State music festivals. At age 14 she made her solo debut, performing with the Niagara Symphony Orchestra. She also sat concertmaster for the University at Buffalo Symphony Orchestra, and was a winner of the 2002 University at Buffalo Concerto Competition, resulting in an appearance as a soloist with the University Symphony. She has also performed with the Bermuda Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slee Sinfonietta of Buffalo, NY under conductor Magnus Martensson, and has participated in the June in Buffalo Contemporary Music Festival.
During her undergraduate studies, Nina became interested in many varieties of music, and began to experiment with the electric violin as well as composition and arranging. She studied percussion composition with Anthony Miranda, and premiered her work La Porta with the U.B. Percussion Ensemble. She also studied arranging with Jon Nelson, and with his guidance premiered her first rock music arrangements, “25 or 6 to 4â€, and the medley “Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon,†for horns, electric strings, and rhythm section. During this time Nina was also performing with the Niagara Falls, NY based rock group Tribal Reign as featured electric violinist, as well as collaborating with internationally renowned percussionists Anthony Miranda and Alessandra Belloni, the trio giving performances in Buffalo, NY as well as Toronto, Ontario.
Originally from New York, Nina is a recent resident of Las Vegas, and has used her talents as fiddle player in the Wild Celts Irish rock band, electric violinist and arranger for the rock string quartet Phat Strad, and has performed as a member of the Wayne Newton Orchestra, collaborating for Las Vegas shows and tours with the legendary entertainer. She has also performed alongside such talent as Andrea Bocelli, Mary J. Blige/Jay-Z, Johnny Mathis, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Marco Antonio Solis, Paula Tsui, Donna Summer, and Regis Philbin. She is co-founder, along with Lisa Viscuglia, and exclusive arranger of the multi-violin rock group Bella Rumore. The group was recently seen on Simon Cowell's NBC produced television show America's Got Talent. She can currently be seen performing as Toni Braxton's violinist in her "Revealed" show at the Las Vegas Flamingo.
Nina has studied violin with Frances Kaye, Movses Pogossian and Byron Tauchi. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Masters Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
