The Order of Ego Deus

About Me

Ego Deus is a religion unlike any other; while it centres around the worship of multiple deities (five of them, to be precise), it teaches that not only are they omnipresent, but they are also antipresent. That is to say, they do not exist.
Many great miracles have been performed in the name of faith. Take for example a church congregation praying for a sick child, who suddenly returns to full health thereafter. While a traditional religious system would have you believe that a greater force heard your prayers and cured the child, a student of Ego Deus never loses sight of the role of faith itself in these acts. Believing that a 'God' figure took action Himself, is to rob ourselves of the true power that we possess, by not recognising it as such. The greatest power comes from within.
At present, the average human being uses approximately 10% of their brain. There are always those, throughout history, who have been able to do more, see more, or know more. Even these individuals still only use a fraction of it. What is to say that the whole brain is not capable of all the miracles traditionally attributed to gods?
Our only comprehension of the world around us comes to our brain as electrical impulses, travelling from our sensory organs. Ultimately, the brain is their master. A hypnotist can induce you to feel sensations in your hands, merely by suggestion. Does it not follow that if we are able to will it in our minds, then our senses, and furthermore our perception, will allign? This means that gods exist (in as much as that they are functional) as long as we continue to worship them.
It cannot be denied that the use of a god-system is a profoundly productive tool; how many people would have given in at some time, admitted defeat, if it were not for their belief that their god was holding their hand? How much mental (and 'supermental') power has been successfully focused on a cause through the lens of faith? In many ways the older, polytheistic religions work better, as each god represents a seperate area of life into which to direct this terrific power. This allows followers to harness and aim their powers.
Therefore, Ego Deus atrributes relevant gods to what we believe are the five great virtues of intellect; Magic, Religion, Science, Philosophy and Art. Every great achievement of humankind has been motivated by at least one of these factors, and at their highest level, they are all one and the same thing (see blog)!
If these five are considered to be the points of a star, the theology of Ego Deus adds depth (or intent) with another dimension of up and down, or Love and Fear (see diagram below). These two are the most basic of human emotions, to which all other feelings can be reduced; the former being the consideration of the wellbeing of all, the latter defence for the wellbeing of the self.
.
Essentially, Ego Deus believes that every human action can be placed on this scale of five directions, up and down.
Following this theology, there is no need for choirs of angels and legions of demons to illustrate our beliefs. No need for judgemental words such as 'Good' and 'Evil', or the threat of everlasting torment... and certainly no need for a God of all gods presiding over them all. Each deity, or Principle governs it's own area of power, and operates between these extremes of Love and Fear. Our gods can appear as ruthless tyrants, or as saintly benefactors at their extreme polarities. Ego Deus never robs the individual of their own free will, or their responsibility.
Below follow basic outlines of the five deities; for more in-depth information on the theology of Ego Deus, see the above blogs, or get in touch with us. We'd love to hear from you...
