Bi-Annual multimedia CD-Rom urban youth culture magazine
The publication aims to expose and develop the work of unknown creatives working in the fields of design, film, music, journalism, creative writing, photography, fashion and art.
We view this publication as a portfolio of work by bedroom artists whose work would otherwise still be sitting on their PC's at home, too intimidated by larger commercial mediums. We want to document the work according to the cultural, political and social relevance of our time so that years later we will be able to see and we will be able to hear what the South African youth were listening to, watching and thinking about. What were their complaints, desires, observations?
Sub_Urban is more than just a magazine. In its brief history, it has launched bands, shot and showcased music videos, premiered original electronic compositions, hosted a radio show, thrown parties, made films, put on film festivals and has placed a valuable platform out on the streets to network, present and promote new wave South African talent.
