About Me

At the age of 12 Ruben Samama (03/01/1985, Utrecht) started, after messing around a bit on the piano, playing the mighty double bass. A year later he was admitted at the 'young talent' department in the Royal Conservatory of The Hague where he also studied classical composition. After experimenting with classical music he focused mainly on Jazz music. Through the years Ruben started to get more and more into pop/rock and electronic music as a singer/songwriter and bassguitar player. In 2004 Ruben made his debut as a composer when he wrote music for ZTHollandia's Richard the III. In 2006 Ruben started to collaborate with Eef van Breen as the writers duo "Soundkraft" . They have since composed and produced music for numerous films in the international Art House scene. In 2007 Ruben finished his studies in the Hague with Hein van de Geyn en Frans van der Hoeven and is currently pursuing his masters degree in New York at the Manhattan school of Music. Ruben can often be found in a small Japanese restaurant around the corner from where he lives. The food is "spectacular!" or so he says...
Ruben is studying at the Manhattan School of Music in New York with the help of:
Prins Bernhard Cultuur fonds
VSB fonds
the Fulbright foundation
Het Nederlands Fonds voor Podiumkunsten+
Ruben won the AJTA award in 2006
