Lovorka was born in 1980 in Croatia. Her musical education started that same year. It was her familly's fault. Although none of her parents were professional musician she was introduced to music by her mum's and grandmother's lullabies (completely improvised melodies and lyrics…they were very creative) and her fathers's fantastic singing and guitar playing. Lovorka was always very musical and skinny so she started her dance carrear at age of five. And she knew she'll be a dancer. But the first time she heard her father playing piano she wanted to play it too. She forced her parents to pay the piano lessons in a primary music school in Zagreb but ended up playing guitar. And that is still a mystery how that happened… But she got used to it and through the years she seriously started to practice and became very fond of that instrument. She finished the full 6 year programme with the diploma in 1994. Suddenly she was very interested in singing so she took singing lessons instead of playing guitar. She sang background vocals in pop and funk bands and did some recordings. One day she heard John Coltrane's ?Ole? and she was magically drawn to the music called jazz. It was weird and uncomprehensive yet rich in emotions and interesting. After this first encounter Lovorka started to listen more and more - first singers and than instrumentalists... She found out she's never gonna be a dancer but a musician. So she started to study jazz singing at Universitaet fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz in Austria. She worked with Mark Murphy, Tom Lellis, Jay Clayton and Fritz Power. In the meantime she sang with Croatian broadcast big band and as guest in some croatian jazz bands. After awhile the desire to go to Holland was getting stronger (she always knew she'll live there for some time) so she continued her studies at Koninklijke Conservatorium Den Haag where she still studies and plays with wonderful musicians.
