Born in 1985 (Oegstgeest, the Netherlands). Margriet started singing at the local theatre school when she was a little girl. The musical fun really started during high school where she joined the Music & Theatre School of Leiden. She travelled with this group to Poland to sing and play, and performed every year in the 'Leidse Schouwburg' in different productions. Next to the acting she also loved to sing in a lot of different music - projects (like the coverband 'Hotstuff'). At the age of 14 Margriet heard a record of Ella Fitzgerald and got fascinated by her - after this great singer more and more jazz followed. In 2003 after her highschool she noticed she really wanted music to be the main subject of her life and started to study 'Education in Music' at the Royal Conservatory in the Hague. Here she got very inspiring singing lessons from Kristina Fuchs and Rachel Gould. During this study the passion for Jazz grew even more and more and she started with her second study 'Jazz Singing'. Right now she has finished her study 'Education in Music' (may '07) and is still busy studying 'Jazz' at the same institute. She studies at the moment with Anette von Eichel (jazz), Manon Heijne (contemporary music) and many other wonderfull teachers.
Margriet joined a lot of different projects during her period at the conservatory. She joined 'Dekoor Close harmony' on a tour to South-Korea and Taiwan with the fantastic conductor Johan Roose. With this vocal group she also joined international choir festivals (The Netherlands, Denmark, Taiwan).
She sang in a close harmony trio called 'Pur Sang' and 'Charmed' where she recorded a CD with. Right now she sings in a jazz4tet and she is one of the six singers from the vocal group 'Emissa Manu'.
Margriet also works as a music teacher at the Music school of the Hague and Leiden.
