Eef van Breen

Eef van Breen started to play trumpet at the age of 7. He gratuated at the Royal Conservatory in the hague. Eef played with a lot of great musicians like Philip Harper, John Engels, Ack van Rooyen, Hein van der Geyn and Harold Danko. Among his teachers were Koos van der Sluis, Jarmo Hoogendijk & Beatrijs Koorevaar. One of his greatest experiences was taking private lessons with both Clarke Terry and Lew Soloff.As a singer Eef won the second price at the Dutch Jazz Vocalist Contest, and as a film scoring composer he won the Best Original Music Award at the Short Film Festival in Reus, Spain. Eef is not only the performer of his own compositions, for years he's writing chamber music aswell for different (chambermusic) ensembles. Together with Ruben Samama (also one of his myspace friends) he started the composers duo Soundkraft, they wrote scores for several movies. At the moment Eef works actively with 2 bands. "The Trumpack", with a.o. trumpeter Philip Harper & trumpeter Michael Varekamp. And "PRIMITIVO" a jazz quartet with a.o. pianist Walter Wolff (myspace too). In July 2009 Eef will record his debute cd on Challenge Records.
