MY NEXT GIG:

(Click Pickture Below For Details)

My new night in Camden! Me and Miles will be setting up shop here as well as The Grey Horse in Kingston from now on ... come down to the opening night, and the lineup is clearly quite amazing!"

BIO:

I've been playing guitar for about 13 years now, and only just decided to go solo recently. I'll gig till I die, so watch out for me on the London circuit, where I will be playing frenzied and engaging live shows.

My sound didn't take a lot of thought, other than the decision to sing in my own accent, rather than an American emo-boy. I just play rock without the rhythm section. I hit the strings just as hard as I would if I were competing with a full band. Except it's not a band I need to fight, it's my own voice, which I recently discovered, can be VERY loud when I want it to be. My songs are about a mixture of things - interesting people I know, interesting women I know, places I've been, nights I've barely remembered ... but all are delivered with the same passion and commitment I put into everything I play. Plus, you'll be idly humming the chorus for the next two weeks.

My influences are U2, Foo Fighters, Bon Jovi, Battle, Razorlight - amongst thouands of others. Bit of a motley crew really, but my music isn't part of any particular scene or fad, just as none of the above bands truly are. Great songs, passionately delivered, will never go out of fashion.

REVIEWS:

"I like the voice you sing in" - Marsha Shandur - XFM

"A winning formula of lyrically witty verses followed by big, melodic choruses" - The Tube Club

"A unique style of singing full of original flavor, Liam Cottrell can change the mood from light to dark." - MUSICREVEIW.COM

"Classy songs and guitar playing that keeps your attention" - Seatwave.com

"If Jack Peñate grew a pair of bollocks, he'd nearly be as good as this" - Journalist for The Inquirer

(By no means is this meant in offense to the wobbly kneed chap!)

Jus' lil' ol' me!

Click on the banner to check me out on NME.COM, then please vote for me! You have to add a profile, but it's worthwhile, and it'd help me a lot!

Get my banner on your page! Click on the text box, press Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C - then copy into your myspace!

Please feel more than free to download the tracks free from the MySpace player, but if you're a VERY VERY kind person, download the tracks from here! It'll boost me up the charts, and put a minimal, but appreciated amount of money in my ever dwindling bank account. If you buy from my indiestore, please leave a comment so I can be all simpering and sycophantic about you.

Please take the time out to check Amy Hand Art - artists and musicians alike!

Influences:

Ridiculous, heart-superglued-to-sleeve choruses of U2

The melodic pop angst of Foo Fighters

Emo pioneers and god-like geniuses Brand New

A monkey holding a hand grenade like Idiot Pilot

The dynamic contrast of Jeff Buckley

Little-known, geeky, heartfelt bands like Battle

And many, many more besides ...

Sounds Like:

I've been compared to:

Billy Bragg

Morrisey/The Smiths

Paul Weller/The Jam

The Promlaimers(!)

The Clash

Big Audio Dynamite

Bon Jovi (just the choruses)

U2

Say Anything

Battle

However, I do not neccesarily agree that I sound like any of these bands, but am proud to have been compared to all of them!
